Fast
I tested this on a small pond and in my bathtub. Couldn't test much in the bathtub other than it worked and made a good toy for my toddler to play with. In the pond it went really fast but was hard to maneuver. I have never us d an RC boat so I don't really know how it would handle. I never fully ran it out of batteries so I don't know if it lasts as long as it's supposed to. It was still fun to use. I will stick with RC cars however as I can use them everywhere.

FAST, but fit and finish lacking on this one
As other reviewers have noted, this thing SUPER fast. You'll need either an Olympic sized pool or a lake. If you drop it into a backyard pool you will be frustrated at best, as this needs room to maneuver. It comes with two large 7.4V 600mAh batteries. They last between 15 and 20 minutes depending on how fast you push it. The turning circle is HUGE, especially if you're moving a top speed.Unfortunately, this one came with a few minor defects that it should not have. As you can see in one of my pics, the gasket that keeps water out of the inside hull came twisted and hangs out of the top of the boat. Try as I might, I was not able to put it back in place to where it would stay put. I finally put a few dabs of silicon clue and that fixed that. Then, there is a white front cap that does not fit well, and keeps coming off. It looks like it was never made correctly in the first place, because there are gaps on each side where it should slide on and become part of the boat. Once again, I put a generous amount of silicon glue and secured it. Point though is that I shouldn't have to do that. Then lastly, there is a metal rod coming out of the rear to move the rudder (see pic) that has a rubber "seal" where the rod comes out of it, to keep water from leaking in at that point. This one has that seal, but as you can see in the pic, the rod doesn't come out of the middle of it as it should, but was plunged out the side of that seal, which allows a TINY bit of water to get in. Not a huge deal, and not enough enters to damage the inside batteries etc. However, again, this should not happen if quality control were doing their job. Bottom line... a bit sloppy fit and finish, but probably not enough that you would return the boat. It works fine, and is super fast. Can't give it less than four stars. I would still recommend this. There is way more than $50 worth of fun with this one.

Really well made and seems like it will be fast, but unfortunately it's too cold for open water demo
The media could not be loaded. 6/30/2024 UPDATE: I finally got around to taking some good footage of this thing in action, and I will say I was pretty impressed!I want to apologize in advance that I couldn't provide an open water demonstration in my video, but I was dumb and ordered it in late November so it is way too cold out to be taking it out for a proper demonstration.I will say that it is very well crafted, and the fact that it even has an automatic bilge pump with a VERY nice controller makes me think there is no reason to doubt the listing claim that it can go 25+ mph. The controller definitely has a trim adjuster, and I am about 96% sure that the second control knob is to increase/decrease the turning radius capability. That said, it might be a speed adjuster knob, and I really wish it was, but again I am pretty sure that it just controls how sharply the boat can turn. When I first started dabbling in RC boats I thought that it would always be better to have a dual prop engine, but I have had issues with those in terms of getting both props to sync up consistently, so the fact that this is a single prop engine is a positive in my opinion. The controller also has a really nice steering wheel with a rubberized foam grip which is perfect for wet hands, so this thing is definitely ready for the outdoors! All in all I really can't say for certain whether this is going to be as fast as I think it will be on the open water so I can't officially recommend it, but I think that it would be worth taking the chance on this one based on everything I can glean from the indoor test. That said, I will definitely follow up with an open water demonstration once the weather is more accommodating.

Don't go too far
This is a fun, zippy little boat. The boys love to take it out to the lake, but be careful. In a pool, you are hard pressed to get too far away from the remote control (low signal alarm warns you.) But on a lake, if you get too far away and don't turn around, you're swimming. Batteries last a decent amount of time, but near the end they are causing the engine to drag a little. Pistol grip remote is easy enough to operate and it's nice having two batteries instead of a single. You can use one while charging the other, but they don't charge as fast as they are discharged. Plan to get about 30-40 minutes of use between the two batteries and then to spend 4-6 hours charging them back up. I think 25+ mph is a stretch (shouldn't it be in knots?) but it is pretty quick. I think this is a great little toy overall that keeps my two boys, 7 & 9, entertained at the lake. Just pay heed to the "I'm too far away" tone or someone's going after it!

Fast!
I love how fast this thing is. It’s really too much for my 30 ft pool. I’m going to have to try it in a lake.Unfortunately, it never turned as well to the left as it does to the right. The rudder seemed to function fine, so I think it has to do with the way the water comes off the propeller. Best it would do is about a 20ft diameter circle, which was too much for my pool. To the right it does about a 5ft circule. It righted itself when it flipped if it still had some momentum, but a few times it got stuck upside down with no way to right itself. Also, it got a decent amount of water in the motor compartment after a few minutes of using it. That’s pretty concerning to me. We’ll see how it fairs over time because of that.

Looks like fun!
I haven't actually tried this out yet because it is a Christmas present but it looks like it will be a lot of fun!
