Although she went country in 1965 her early albums from 1960-1963 have mostly rockabilly and some great Country tunes
If this doesn't get you rocking nothing will. Wanda dated Elvis when on tour with him in 1955. She is known for being the Queen of Rockabilly and if CD doesn't convince you nothing will. Although she went country in 1965 her early albums from 1958-1963 have mostly rockabilly and some great Country tunes.. She covered the Elvis song Let's have a Party and was one of her biggest hits. I guess the world was not ready for a girl that could rock like her!

Classic Country at its best
This is pretty simple, if you love Classic Country this is a great CD, if you don't like the older country sound, don't buy it.

Mostly other stuff by the First Lady of Rockabilly
Founded in 1950, PICKWICK Records' first success was with their CRICKET children's label. In 1957 they began issuing budget line LPs under several imprimaturs: DESIGN, GRAND PRIX, BRAVO, HAPPY TIME, etc. These were often soundalike waxings. In the early '60s, Lou Reed was a staff songwriter at PICKWICK. In later years the company's biggest sellers were the DE-LITE label's Kool & the Gang.In their heyday, PICKWICK albums had ten tracks (or less) and were mainly licensed reissues of major brand material.Mono recordings were often rechanneled into fake stereo..WANDA JACKSON (PTP-2053) is a two-LP set from 1974 of material authorized by CAPITOL Records.A singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist, Wanda was an early rockabilly and R&R star. In 1955, she toured with (and dated) Elvis Presley. The Queen of Rockabilly recorded that sort of music for a decade, then switched in the mid-'60s to more mainstream country. Later she added gospel music to her repertoire. Beginning in 1965, she recorded in German for CAPITOL's Germany affiliate (ELECTROLA) and scored some hits in that country, then rewaxed these singles in Dutch and Japanese. This member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame returned to her roots in the early '80s, and has remained a rockabilly artist ever since.SIDE ONEWe'll Sing in the SunshineLess of MeHe's Got the Whole Wold in His HandsYakety-YakI Start Loving You AgainSIDE TWOI'm a BelieverWalk Right InI'd Do it All Over AgainWalk on Out of My MindSIDE THREEIf I Had a HammerFeverThe Keeper of the SkyWhole Lot of Shakin' Going OnSIDE FOURBy the Time You Get to PhoenixHoney Don'tThis Land is Your LandYour Tender LoveSearchin'

Expanded reissue of Jackson's sterling debut
This sterling reissue of Jackson's eponymous 1958 debut shows just why she is so highly regarded by both straight-ahead country and rockabilly afficianados. Jackson straddled multiple styles, often pairing country ballads and rockabilly on opposite sides of a single. Capitol's reissue is a treasure chest sporting original cover art, bonus singles and B-sides, detailed liner notes, and period photos.Jackson's debut showcased her country side, including covers of Kitty Wells ("Making Believe") and Jim Reeves ("Just Call Me Lonesome"). She tackled everything from an early Don Everly ballad ("Here We Are Again"), to top-40 ("Happy Happy Birthday," a hit for the Tune Weavers) and sophisticated standards ("Let Me Go Lover," previously waxed by Peggy Lee). She turned uptempo for a trio of scorchers, including a pair of '50s standards ("Long Tall Sally" and "Money Honey"), and the incendiary anthem, "Let's Have a Party." Bonus tracks include the first-ever recording of "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" and a cover of Chuck Willis' bluesy "Let Me Explain."Backed by world-class picking from Buck Owens, Joe Maphis, and Ralph Mooney (among other luminaries), Jackson is utterly authoritative on everything she sings. This, and the accompanying "Rockin' With Wanda," are equally essential.4-1/2 stars, if allowed fractional reviews.

Jackson's first album on Capitol -- a hillbilly sizzler!
This 1958 album is a great mix of for-real rural-rooted country music and first-generation rockabilly. Jackson is just such a great singer! The half-dozen country-oriented bonus tracks make this reissue even that much sweeter. Recommended!

Album molto bello, una raccolta dei suoi grandi classici. Per essere un doppio LP ha un ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Pacco recapitato nei tempi.
