FRANKE Tappo/Cestello basket 3 1981388 per lavello ORIGINALE

This item is smaller than anticipated unfortunately and immediately becomes a plug that refused to let the water out unless you lift it.

The stem is too thick and does not fit my Franke sink. Have they changed the size? My sink is only a few years old and I understood these things to be a standard size.
