This stuff is amazing and I highly recommend for bacteria overgrowth / parasite removal.Probably TMI, but, here goes:While I have had IBS-C in the past, it has never ever been like this. My symptoms began after a bout of Norovirus in January (2017) and then intensified following severe case of the flu (in early March) -- both of which involved very high fevers.At first I attributed the severe constipation to the fact that I was on a paleo / keto blended diet so I started adding in various types of *additional* fiber (I had no idea that there are four different kinds of fiber...) and resistant starch and numerous strains of probiotics (ditto -- there are zillions) and sugarless gummy bears and whatever else I could think of.A few things helped some, others not at all, and after about a week, I was actually worse off. I then added resistant starch, which helped for about a week, and then I was back where I started. Changed my diet and that helped for a week and then back to square one again...I ended up in the doctor's office (July) and he wanted me to have a CAT scan because of how messed up I was - bloated, constipated, in pain, and ready to pass out. He diagnosed me as having acute gastritis and gave me an anti-spasmodic, a proton pump inhibitor and Linzess (linaclotide) -- it was effective but not pretty and I didn't leave the house for 3 days.Obviously, it was treating the symptoms and not the cause. While stuck at home, I had nothing but time, so I commenced to research.According to an article in nature dot com, (Phytonutrient diet supplementation promotes beneficial Clostridia species and intestinal mucus secretion resulting in protection against enteric infection) researchers tested the effects of anethol (anise), carvacrol (oregano), cinnamaldehyde (cinnamon), eugenol (clove), capsicum oleoresin (cayenne pepper) and garlic extract on colon mucus..."The mechanism by which eugenol causes mucus layer thickening likely involves microbial stimulation as analysis of the intestinal microbiota composition showed eugenol treatment led to an increase in abundance of specific families within the Clostridiales order. These results suggest that eugenol acts to strengthen the mucosal barrier by increasing the thickness of the inner mucus layer, which protects against invading pathogens and disease."Bacteril has 3 of the essential oils listed in the article (carvacrol (oregano), cinnamaldehyde (cinnamon), eugenol (clove)), that I wanted to try as part of my last ditch effort to eradicate what imbalance I had and try to rebuild my system so that it functioned normally again.I am taking it 2 times a day with a Gas-X capsule along with 1/4 teaspoon of a high sulfur content "black salt" (Kala namak) and a glass of water in the morning and some anti-spasmodic herbs (lobelia / cramp bark) and Cascara Sagrada to “restore peristalsis”.Things are starting to work the way they are supposed to again. I will continue to take the Bacteril for quite some time just to make sure that I have beaten back the bacteria overgrowth.Note: The first several days were “rough” and I actually felt worse, (but, not constipated). This is called the herxheimer reaction and is common as the icky things start to die.

My husband and I have been using this product for close to 6 months. We take the 1 capsule/day as a "guard" against illnesses. I believe in the natural plant based theory of taking care of the body where at all possible and without taking so many of the prescribed medications that can and often do have side effects or cause collective damage to the body's natural processes. Perhaps it is too early to make a firm statement about the effectiveness of this product. However, my husband and I have both remained in good health with no bugs or illnesses - so far. We attribute this to our preventive dose of Bacteril that helps our bodies fight off germs and viruses before they become a problem. An interesting 2011 movie deals with severe viral infections similar to flu and in which people who become infected can manifest symptoms and be gone in a matter of 2 days. This movie also mentions a plant-based product that may protect people from becoming infected and that could possibly cure them after infection. My family feels it is certainly worth a try to use a natural and plant-based product as a preventative measure from bacterial and viral infection. Thyme and oregano (present in Bacterial) have been successfully used as preventatives in the poultry and other animal-based food source industry. As the old saying goes - an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. As this review is being written, my husband and I have not been infected with the current viral epidemic and we cannot take flu shots because of previous bad reactions to the shots. We will continue to take our daily Bacteril in the hopes that this little capsule of prevention is worth many days and pounds of cure. As of the end of June and the start of summer, my husband and I remain healthy. We did not get the flu even though we were probably exposed to it. We credit using Bacteril on an almost daily basis for helping our bodies fight off unwanted germs and diseases.

First time ordering this for immune system support. Pleasant taste. Easy to carry when working and traveling. Seems to work in staving off a cold.

These little gems have been a big help. I found out about it from another source. I found a better price here on Amazon. I've been using it for about 3 months now and can say it's really made a difference in my immune health. It's not a cure all, but it's a great addition to my medicine cabinet. It came in handy when I was traveling a lot.

This product works great when you feel a cold coming on to start taking it. Usually I don't get the cold or very little symptoms. Great product!
