Superb detective story. Book 6 in the series which has just got better and better. Best read in order, but this one could be a stand alone. Gillian Galbraith utilises her extensive vocabulary; many Scottish words to look up! The character of Alice, and the other main players are developed throughout the series and go from strength to strength.This yarn is totally gripping and I didn't guess the murderer until near the end. Interesting insight into alternative Christian sects is woven into Alice's first inspectors role in solving the crime.Full marks!!!

Another thoroughly good read from Gillian Galbraith. She writes well ( this is important to me!) and her stories are beautifully crafted. Being an Edinburgh resident, I particularly enjoy being able to picture the locations she writes so cleverly about. I was a little perplexed to find Father Vincent making an appearance in Alice's life ( I had not enjoyed the Good Priest nearly as much as the Alice Rice tales) but, with Ian dead, I guess the author was trying to bring in some personal details about Alice's life away from her work. That was the only thing I missed as I read the book. Alice and her workmates have become real people to the readers and it is good to learn how their lives are progressing.

Another belter by Gillian galbraith -need I say more?

This series just gets better and better. Alice comes to life on the page and is totally believable, as are DCI Elaine Bell and endearing newbie DC Cairns. Good, well-researched plot and excellent atmospheric writing. Looking forward to the next one.

Continued to enjoy Alice as Scottish detective. Very interesting story line with unexpected outcome.In my opinion Gillian Galbraith is now an established writer if Scottish crime fiction - I recommend her books to all who read this genre

This Alice Mystery was terrific. Kept me guessing until the end. If you enjoy crime novels set in Scotland this one is for you.

Really nice book, well written and unusual story line. I have enjoyed all the Alice Rice books, unfortunately have a feeling they are coming to an end, hope I am wrong.
