With this easy-to-follow advice, thereยs no longer any reason to lose precious sleep. Whether your sleep problem is chronic or occasional, No More Sleepless Nights is the best remedy available. Review: 9 years and 3 sleep doctors later, finally some help - I'm 73 years old and given up on ever being able to sleep more than 4 hours a night. Two doctors diagnosed me as a chronic insomniac and the other as having diagnosed advanced sleep phase syndrome and wanted me to enter a behavioral mod class. Having a clinical background in the behavioral field, I elected to look elsewhere as I had an idea the problem was either physical or a chemical imbalance. I knew before starting my search for help, sleep disorders are really hard to nail down. My family doctor had told me from the beginning there was very little reliable information is available. He prescribed a well known sleeping bill which helped very little. After numerous trails with other sleep studies and my own search for information, I tried everything, quack remedies off the internet, white noise, bright lights, hypnotic tapes, breathing machines. Nothing had any positive result. My family doctor after my trials, upped the sleeping pill to two different sleeping bills. At the time I could get one and a half hours sleep with the one pill and I would take the second pill and get another 2 hours sleep. After 2 years of this the pills had become less effective. I decided to look again, maybe some new information was out. I found this book on desertcart and how I missed before is a wonder, The book covers everything I had tried before until Chapter 9 and the part about supplements to your diet. I had tried the quack supplements off the internet with no help. The difference here is a professional making specific recommendations and I had always held the idea this may be a chemical problem. Well the first day taking the supplements recommended I slept a half an hour more. Then it got better each day. Do not get me wrong, I am not cured, but confident, I am at the beginning of solving the mystery of sleep disorders. What works for me will not work for everyone. The book makes many suggestions on different ways to attach the problem. I still have a long way to go. I must get rid of the sleeping pills and consult with my doctor. I have hope and wish the same for you, peaceful sleep. Review: A tiempo - Excelente

Now there's a workbook to accompany this book.
I praised Peter's book in a previous review and note that 25/31 reviewers share my high opinion of it. No book can please everyone, but the book/workbook combination may come closer. If you really want to go into the details of your insomnia, the workbook offers a tested device to time your sleep onset. Research suggests people aren't accurate in estimating that from their experience. For example, a widely known and respected psychoanalyst slept in our lab and said, "You see! I didn't sleep at all." The physiological record demonstrated otherwise. (Research suggests such people are apt to be more aroused during their sleep than others.) A complaint about this book by one reviewer was that it lacked a specific, detailed plan for self treatment. That lack is now corrected by the accompanying workbook. (Other reviewers and patients I've seen have felt the book alone gave them enough directions to succeed.) Another complaint was that the book told of other sleep disorders and that seemed "filler." Reviewers refute that by describing how other disorders explained what seemed like simple insomnia. Its directions for dealing with possible sleep apnea or depression have probably saved lives and careers. The book has been a gold standard for many years. Partly due to refinement, it's still a gold standard. I sponsored many presentations on sleep at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey, about 1-4 of them for most of 25 years. Peter's teaching skill was demonstrated when his workshop was the one that grew in attendance as he taught. Experts who attended started detecting four times as many sleep disorders! Of course no book will please everyone, but this book seems to have come close.
