Dakine Surf and Sun Cap

I got this for SUP surfing, specifically to aid visibility in the bright sun. When the sun is out, being on a SUP can be rather blinding. What this does is effectively block direct sunlight in the eyes, leaving only the water reflection remaining. That's enough to improve eye comfort and this cap functions properly for that. I have read mentions that the clip is pretty flimsy and I would concur. I certainly would treat it gently and pay attention when clipping and unclipping to avoid breaking it. I think they could have put a burlier clip (mid way between this and a helmet clip) to avoid this issue. And that would be my recommendation to Dakine.The flip side of getting all that sun protection is, of course, comfort. The question I had was, is this going to be ok when I get thrown off the board and tossed and turned in a wave? Is it going to be safe, ie not cover up my eyes? Is it going to be secure? So far, the answer is: yes. It does not cover my eyes, nose or mouth if I fall in the water. And so far, it hasn't come off. Again, the main issue with buckle isn't the strength of the connection, it's the strength where it connects to the fabric. It's quite a thin piece of plastic.Still, I think, on the whole, this is worthy of five stars. I think the comfort and look of the smaller buckle is a feature for some, and I think it's sturdy enough to last a two to five years, if treated properly.

I needed sun protection on jet skis. This stayed on perfectly even at high speeds! I have a small head and was worried it wouldn’t adjust properly on me, but it did. The clip is flimsy tho but still I’m very pleased.

I was getting ready to go surfing, excited to try my new cap and couldn't even wear in the water because the strap was torn in the process of tightening it! I hope that this is mistake that is only related to this cap

Positive: Love the blue color....now my surf buddy can spot me easily.Negative: The one-size is too big for my 7 1/8 head. I wish Dakine made it in 2 sizes, medium and large. As it is, this would be the large size.

This hat was perfect for my surf trip to puerto Escondido where it’s super hot. It protected my head from getting sunburned and also kept the sun from blinding me when looking out for more waves or at the shore.The bad reviews complained about the clip being extremely hard to take off but it is just a clip that you just press and it comes apart.The quality seems to be good as well. It stayed on when I ducked dived Under big waves and didn’t rip like some others complained about.The bill is short enough to still block the sun and not be a nuisance while out in the water.My only complaint is that I would get a headache after wearing it for a long time since I put it on too tight and it would cut off my circulation. I didn’t want to loosen it cause I was afraid it might come off.Well worth the money compared to some other more expensive surf hats I was looking at. I’ll buy another

I hesitated (for years) to wear a surfing hat, but this cap was a pleasant surprise. I've been wearing it while surfing for the last week. It's comfortable and really stays on, even when I get thrashed around in the 'washing machine'.Because it's lightweight and has a lean profile, I can almost forget that I'm wearing it.Definitely happy that I bought this. Protect your head from UV!

I use this in Central America to help from getting baked during the afternoon sessions. My head stays cooler, sun out of eyes and sun protection. This hat works great in keeping me in the water longer and stays on even in serious sized powerful south swells.

Love the hat, but the clips broke. Dakine needs to put some more attention into making their clips less prone to breakage. This is for this product, and their bucket hat. I have both, and both clips broke after about a year of use.

A pesar de ser un gorro para surfistas, necesitaba algo de protección extra al salir de mis inmersiones y este gorro me resulta muy práctico porque se queda en mi cabeza todo el tiempo ya sea que vaya en el bote o bajo el agua

Ich habe eine Cap gesucht um beim Kiten Augen und Ohren sowie Kopf vor der Sonne zu schützen.Durch den kurzen Sonnenschutz hat man den Kite auch aus dem Augenwinkel gut im blick. Ansonsten sehr bequem, hochwertig und erfüllt seinen Zweck.

Parece bien fabricado y es cómodo. Dicen que da protección UV a nivel 50+ y esto no puedo comprobar, pero no tengo motivos para dudarlo.
