Splits the wood on occasion

Well made, but useless.
It's really well made but completely useless. The threads on the shank are a fine machine screw threads that just strip out in the wood and provide no thrust to rotate the workpiece. The threads should be way coarser, like a lag bolt. Fine machine threads do not grip in wood that's being rotated at high speed and subjected to heavy loads. Whoever designed this clearly was not thinking about or understanding the product's intended use case.

Stock Holder not working.
I tried two different time to get it to work, I just used a socket that fit over the end of the wood so, I could make a dowel. The screw would just not hold the sock for the dowel just kept spinning.

Useless
Did not work - the thread is too fine and does not grip the billet of wood end grain - the adapter just spins in the drill while the wood remains stationary in the dowel jig.

An excellent idea BUT....
This is an excellent idea but the screw thread is simply wrong. It has a 'fine' thread rather like a self-tapping screw and that is no good at all for most wood. Pretty well as soon as I tried it, the wood thread 'stripped' in the dowel I was spinning. It WILL do that in most wood as soon as the load strays above minimal. My solution was to insert a coach-screw into the hole this device had made, cut off the head and insert the remaining shaft into a drill. That worked perfectly and cost me 'nothing'. I suggest that you use a 'centre-finder' before drilling the end of your 'stick'.

Did not work for me
Not fit for purpose. Tried to turn some 20mm dowel with this in a dowl cutting jig. The thread is too small, did not hold the dowel.
