I bought these for use under my ski pants. I have a similar pair about 30 years old and they are getting, well, old. BUT! HELLY HANSEN HAS ELIMINATED THE ESSENTIAL ITEM - THE PEE FLY! I looked, I turned them back to front, and back again. No fly. No fly!? How do they call this a men's garment when you can't get it open for relief, ESPECIALLY when it's under your other garments in the middle of winter? Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb... Don't buy these, if you're a man.

perfect base layer for 40-50 degree outdoor workouts

I ordered 2x which is my normal size for base layer pants but unfortunately, while the waist fits just fine the thigh/crotch area is way to small/tight. Unfortunately it seems to be the largest size HH makes, otherwise I was all set to purchase the same thing in a 3x.Seems to be a quality somewhat reasonably priced base layer bottom but just cut too small and a tad short in rise. I liked the somewhat longer leg length(I wear a 30" in jeans so not particularly long) but other bottoms I've tried barely come to my ankle(if that) which is annoying. I also liked the waistband on these as well as no fly. I mean I never use the fly on undergarmets, just pull them down and dislike the rather open fly on several other base layer bottoms I've tried.If you want a lightweight base layer bottom and can order a size larger than you normally wear, I'd really suggest these. At least Amazon is easy to return and because of that I highly recommend getting it from them.
