Good standard litter box.
I recently adopted a second kitty and needed an extra litter box while they got used to each other. This litter box has been great - heavy duty, deep, easy to put together. I bought a pack of litter box liners and they fit just fine, so it's stayed very clean thus far. My older cat loves to dig in her "sandbox," and the lid has been very useful in keeping most of it inside while allowing her to see out and eliminating a potential ambush point while they're still learning to get along. I haven't noticed any odor as long as I change the litter on a reasonably regular basis. Overall if you're looking for a standard litter box that's not too expensive and won't fall apart on you, give this one a try.

Good Quality, Easy to Use
Good quality litter box, we have two of these now, easy to clean, keeps litter in the box if you have a cat that likes to really dig and fling litter around, which we do, i like the design of having the recessed step in area at the front, makes it easier for our one older cat, she doesn't have to jump in just step over and in. It's really easy to use, just snap the two halves together and fill. Obviously being an open litter box it doesn't do anything to contain smell, but if you have a cat that hates enclosed litter boxes and won't use them then this is about as good as it gets because the upper lid functions well to keep litter in. Overall a good product that seems durable and unlike some others we have had the bottom doesn't stick to the litter and its super easy to just hose it out every few months and start over with fresh litter, we tend to clean it and add litter as needed for a few months then do a complete refresh which helps keep it clean and reduces odor.

Litter-ly a Good Box
It's been cat tested .. and then tested ... and then ... oh my gawd what did you EAT? Tested. It works. My cats are all tall to mid-lard sized little heifers. I was having issues with 2 of them - Sammi the Weasel likes to stick her butt out the front of the box and pee all over the floor. Yoda Boda likes to dig a hole to China then scratch the walls down to fill said hole in (this goes on FOREVER) all while making sure everything in 20 foot radius is equally covered in litter for good measure, then he plunks his butt down right in the center to pee before bolting out like lightning just smacked him which serves his nefarious purpose of making litter trails across the entire house as he completely avoids touching down on the litter mats. Pepper Spray can contain herself and her bizniz to a box but she dislikes the openness of regular ones ... however she's a wee bit umm, FAT, for a regular hooded box. I checked out the expensive pet stores (you know the ones!) and they did not have anything that would meet all 3 of my precious sugar woogums cow sized elimination habits. Then I ordered Iris CLH-12 Open-Top Litter Box with Shield and Scoop, installed it between my shower & human litter box and voila! Problems mostly solved. Sammi the Weasel can no longer shove her butt out the front edge, Pepper Spray doesn't look like an awkward fat-ass stuffed in a tiny box, and Yoda Boda isn't flinging excavation treasures like a Tasmanian devil all over the entire room. The box lid is a little awkward because of the weird small area of where it barely clips onto the box. If you got sprayers or super high pee-ers, this will be a problem. It might accommodate bags easier than a regular hooded box, however I don't know that for sure, I haven't tried it with a bag yet since my demon-boy just shreds them into "sifter" bags anyway. He hasn't been able to ninja-kick it off yet, so yay! The included scoop is SMALL, but it has a cool handle hook that allows it to hook onto the lid of the box or open-hood. But hey, the scoop is a bonus and what cat poop-scooping person doesn't already have like 5 of those things anyway? The size is okay, its designed high not super lengthy or extra wide. It works, but it could be bigger which would make it more comfortable for my canine sized fur balls. Its only slightly wider than my regular litter box [very slightly]. If you are looking for a high sided wider one, check out one that looks like a baby bath tub (seriously it does), but you pretty much need fur balls with no litter box issues to brave a non-hood design [if you got one ... you could make a killing in breeding it!]. In short, if you need a hood with out the ceiling and don't have super high pee-ers/sprayers, this design will work. It's high enough to contain, but doesn't brush my butt and freak me out when I'm doing my bizniz either [its right beside my toilet, I'm not using the litter box I swear].

Third-time buyer, highly recommend
I've just ordered a third one of these litter boxes and realized it was time to finally write a review. Concisely: - most importantly, keeps the litter in the box - still in good shape after 2.5 years of use - easy to scoop and clean - big enough for most cats - for my needs, very high-value at $10 Verbosely: I purchased the first one two and half years ago after adopting a medium-sized female cat (10 lbs, spayed) who has very good litter box habits, but vigorously covers after using the box, and had been kicking the litter out of a smaller, low-sided "pan"-style box. The IRIS box absolutely does the trick--she can cover as much as she wants and the high sides of the shield prevent the litter from getting kicked out of the box. I purchased a second one for my sister's much larger male cat (16+ lbs, neutered) who tends to spray and be a bit messier with the litter box. He still manages to kick some litter out sometimes, but the IRIS box is a huge improvement over the low-sided box this box replaced. I've been totally satisfied in both cases and have just ordered a third one for a cat I'm fostering. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an open-top-style litter box. No litter box is going to be the perfect solution for every cat and every pet parent, but for the cats in my life it has worked very well. With it I use Precious Cat clumping litter (multi-cat, in the blue bag). A (theoretical) disclaimer: this box is large enough to hold many pounds of litter. If you wanted to move the box while over-filled, I could see how the box could become damaged by its own weight, as some reviewers have reported. This has not happened to me, though. (Other disclaimer: the included scoop is mediocre, but works. The "hang-on-the-box" part is nice, but I use a larger scoop that I bought separately.)

All it's cracked up to be! Love it!
Most of the things in other reviews are true. That being said I still love my new litter box and plan to buy more of the exact same thing. I've had this box for a bit over a month now and it works great at keeping *most* of the litter inside the box, which was my main reason for purchasing it. The high sides are very nice. I'm able to put a bit more litter into the box which keeps it smelling nice, makes it easier to scoop, and keeps my kitty happy. This box does work well with my liners. I don't believe it would work as well for layers of liners (like those sifting liners you can buy) though. One complaint other reviewers had were the odd corners in the front of the box and them being difficult to scoop. Because I use liners I don't have too much of an issue with this, however the awkward extra square corners that jut out of the box would be annoying if I had to try and clean inside of those everyday. As others have said the "lid"/sides that attach to the box do leave a little to be desired. I wish they secured to the box a bit better/tighter. They snap onto the box on the longer sides (not the entrance or back of the box), but it's not a particularly tight fit. That being said, I haven't had any issues with it falling off or coming undone in my bathroom between my toilet and tub. I also haven't had issues with it when I moved it to and open bed room. Having the scoop that hangs on the side of the box is EXTREMELY convenient, which is another reason I want more of these boxes. The holes on the scoop do seem a little big for scooping the litter initially. Originally I would use a different scoop on the box every few days because I felt it would get some of the smaller pieces the included scoop would miss, but honestly there was very my other more narrow scoop got that the included scoop did not. Some people had concerns with their cats being able to use the box. It's definitely not the largest box you can get. My small 6 lb cat has no issues with it what so ever. She can turn around and do her business with ease. I also have a 17 lb foster who seems to also love this box. Turning in it for her is a little more cumbersome since her space is a little more restricted, but she does use it and seems to prefer it sometimes. All in all, this is a great buy. Yes there are probably better boxes out there, but for the price and what's included this is a great box. Just make sure you consider what's most important for you and your needs.

I just think it would be more comfortable. But we are going to give this a ...
It's a litter box. what more could you want? This box is one of the smaller versions. My preference is to give the cat a larger litter box. I just think it would be more comfortable. But we are going to give this a try and see how it goes. I like the high sides and no top. This helps keep the litter in the pan and does not require you to remove the lid to scoop. Speaking of scoops, toss the one that comes with this and buy a decent one. Lastly is the plastic this is made of. Frankly, its crap. The top extension part does not secure to the bottom tray, it comes right off. I don't particularly care, other than I hope the cat does not knock it off all the time. If she does we will be buying a new one. But I have had litter box's in the past that are made of far better plastic. Is this a big deal? Meh, I don't know. I mean, its a poo box right? And for $8.50 if I end up not liking it, I am not out anything. It's what you would expect for the price. Update: A few things to note after almost a year of use. The quality of the plastic turns out to be a non issue. It IS cheap plastic. I just does not make any difference one way or the other is all. The top part does not get knocked off by our cat. never happened once. Someone noted in another review that the "Indentations" on the bottom of the pan around the outside make it hard to efficiently scrape wet litter out. I noticed this independently of ever having read the review. It's not a big deal, i mean you just scrap with the corner of the scoop. But it is non the less a bit of a pain and something that would be more convenient if there were no indents. I think they put these in to add rigidity to the otherwise crappy plastic. Our cat is small for an adult cat. And she just fits inside this box length ways. She always pees to the entrance of the box. For the most part, she does a good job of staying inside. But just recently, she has,,, ahhh, overshot the front of the box some. So we are ordering a new box. I have to say overall, I will stick with the three star rating especially for the price. It is functional and serviceable, if not a perfect design. I DO NOT want a box that you have to remove the lid every time you scope. I really like the open top. But you are hard pressed to find a box LIKE this one, that happens to be larger. Most other litter box's have a full hood and often a door. But peeing outside the box, (which is not her fault) is unacceptable. We are going to try this next. https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Miracle-High-Sided-Litter-P-82035/dp/B0087Y5NKS/ref=pd_sim_sbs_199_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=GG79A7P5PK1HDWK7STXF .

This one fit just right.
I am a first time kitty owner so I dint' completely realize what I was getting into when I adopted. I knew kitty's used a littler box so I bought a box and thought that would be it. The first one I bought was just an open box and that was it. Didn't have a hood or sides. Even though it was tucked away in a corner, I didn't like that the litter was still visible from across the room. Weird, I know. It's kind of like how I don't like to walk into any restroom and see the toilet lid open. I can't explain it, it's just a weird pet peeve. Skeezix the cat didn't care for the lack of privacy much either. Next I bought a hooded one. I thought it would give her the privacy she wanted and me the satisfaction of not seeing the exposed litter. Skeezix cared very little for the change and would kick off the lid every chance she got. I think she didn't like the feeling of being trapped, even though the hood was size appropriate. So now the hooded one has now become the secondary box in case I go out out of town. I found this one online and I saw it had high sides which would help cut down on her scattering and tracking litter everywhere. The sides cut down on my looking at exposed littler issue and keeps the area clean. Plus, it gives her just enough privacy to feel comfortable enough to do her business while staring me in the eye as if to say "There, I left a little something for you, now clean up my mess." I had purchased several scoopers already but they were all so big and hard to use effectively. The scooper that comes with this one is perfect size. I scoop at least twice a day and i still use a bigger scoop to put everything in to carry it away but I use the little scooper to get every last little bit from the the tray. And it hangs off the side, which is very convenient. I wish all scoopers would hang like that. I'm not wild about having the scoopers touch anything else. Another added bonus is this one kept my little chihuahua from eating the litter once she discovered the kitty was a walking vending machine. My dog was elderly and disabled so it took her a while to catch on to what was going on in that back corner. Once she did finally figure things out she was able to get into the box from the front but she was just disabled enough to not be able to reach to much. When i figured out she was doing it I moved the littler box to sit on top of a bigger, higher storage box that she definitely couldn't get to. And now that it sits higher, Skeezix is happy again and so am I because I don't have to bend down so far and get my face right up in it to clean it out. The high sides really do cut down on the litter tracking, and keeps the smells from the freshies from overpowering the room. It's super easy to clean too, I throw both pieces in the tub with oxi clean type product, let it dry on the balcony for a bit a we're back in business. I put baking soda down before the litter and I've never noticed an issue with the smell and neither has anyone who has visited. I make sure I ask people because I don't have to have gone nose blind to it and not realize it. Everybody is happy with this box. I would recommend it to a first time cat owner for sure. The high sides are a happy medium between the cat feeling trapped in a hooded top or completely exposed in open box.

Best purchase prevents litter from going behind box
I read the reviews and was skeptical i was nervous I would have to tape down the lid, but it snaps down it just comes back up with a hand nudge which is efficient for cleaning it up every week or month since it’s annoying having to wrestle with it. even if my cat claws around it to bury his business I’ve never had to come in and put the lid back on. I noticed a huge difference with how much the mess spreads, since clay litter always makes a big mess. i only have to sweep around the front and at the left hand side these days. I recommend this 100% it’s good for it’s price

Great product, does what it says
Does the job it needed to do to perfection. Thoroughly recommended for cats who have problems keeping the used litter in the tray afterwards!

Zweckdienlich
Sie verhindern, dass die Katzen alles raus werfen, allerdings könnten sie - genauso wie die Schaufel - etwas größer sein. Die Haube selbst ist nicht gesichert und kann einfach nach oben weg gehoben werden.
