PNSO Prehistoric Dinosaur Models (73 Cole The Daspletosaurus)

Amazing sculpt and paint job, only thing is the boot jaw and teeth look a little weird.

Sinopliosaurus released by PNSO for 2022 is based on disputed fossilized remains found in the Sichuan Basin of China and named in 1944 by Y. Jhongjian. Sinopliosaurus weiyuanensis ( Chinese More Lizard ) was once believed to be a marine reptile Pliosaur its teeth are now known to be a spinosaurid theropod. PNSO, known for their adherence to scientific research makes a departure with this figure. The sculpt is a speculative amalgamation of several members of the Spinosauridae. The sculpt; Combining features of known taxa the sculpt has the deep tail and high neural spines and notch of Ichthyovenator coupled with a shallow skull and rosette maxilla of Suchomimus. The details as always is superior. The individually sculpted teeth, the neck and throat pouch, and the muscling of the limbs are exemplary. The paint; A welcomed departure from the subdued models of late, the pallete is arresting and has to viewed in direct sunlight to be truly appreciated. Like the sculpt, the small details are utilized to marvelous extent. The pose; Here, is where I feel the art direction veered into restraint. The pose is in a forward stride, and can balance on a flat surface, reminiscent of a hunting heron, I suspect sculpting the neck in a tight S-curve would shift balance rearward, allow the figure to stand on more uneven surfaces and reinforce the avian connection. I do laud the graceful curve of the spine and the ever so slight twist to the tail. Again, the inclusion of these small nuances makes the figure stand apart. Figures representing the Spinosauridae are emerging into the public consciousness and represented by several manufacturers with varying degrees of quality. While the figure is somewhat of a chimera. This does not detract from the talent of the artists. PNSO consistently delivers quality figures with adherence to scientific rigor, meticulous detail, and artistic panache. Regardless of what the figure is named, the quality of the figure is indisputable, and highly recommended.

Every PNSO replica is a work of art. I cannot recommend them high enough. Only problem is that they usually take many weeks to get here from China. This one arrived within two days to my delight. They must have had it in stock here in the USA.

I only order PNSO for my dinosaur models, as usual, this figure has insanely good quality, design, and detail. The stability is questionable; it stands on its own but easily falls. You definitely want to use the stand. Worth the money and I’m very happy.

The sculpt is great as always. I also like the fact that it has spots instead of stripes, which adds some uniqueness (there have been a bit too many therapods with stripes). One thing that kind of bothered me was the scale, which looks a bit off. The booklet inside the box states that Lynthronax was 9 meters long, which is somewhat an overestimate. This is probably why the figure appears too big besides some other tyrannosaurs. You have to assume it represents a really large individual…

As always, quite pleased with the sculpt and painting of PNSO figures. This one was no exception. Two nitpicks: The size should have been a bit larger to represent this Daspletosauras model more accurately, and the figure would not stand independently, without using the supplied stand.

This is great for anyone. As a kids toy or as display for a collector. The colors are nice and the sculpt is outstanding. It is priced high but fair for the quality and craftsmanship.
