Dawes Men's 700c Discovery 701 Hybrid Bike

Dawes Men's 700c Discovery 701 Hybrid Bike First of all Amazon had the bike delivered very quickly so well done for that. The bike came boxed but not fully assembled. No problem for me as I have years of experience building and maintaining bikes. It isn't difficult but does require a few basic tools such as allen keys (handle bars and saddle) and a spanner for the pedals. When I assembled my bike the brakes needed a bit of adjustment. Again no problem but a bit of knowledge is required.My first impressions after putting it all together was that the build quality is very good and the comonents are all excellent with one exception. Compared to the rest of the bike the pedals are of rather poor quality. However, when you take into account that a lot of bikes come with no pedals (they are extra) you just have to treat these as a bit of a bonus.On the road all the gears worked well and the bike was very responsive. The tyres fitted are Schwalbe Marathon. I had read some reviews that they are extremly good 'bomb proof' tyres but can be prone to coming off the rim when pumped up. I am pleased to say I pumped mine to 90psi and found no evidence that this was likely to happen. All in all I found them excellent. (Also bear in mind that these tyres are £25 each on-line so well done Dawes for not skimping.This is my third Dawes and I like the fact that the factory is in Birmingham. Though how much is actualy made here I am not quite sure. Overall I think that this is a very good bike that can easily stand comparison with any of the imports. When you take into account the price Amazon are currently selling it for it becomes in my view very difficult to beat.So would I recommend it. Yes.
