no its very good at covering the rough stuff making no noise even on the roughest of forestry fire road descents

Do I need to remove brake lever and grips to fit this?

No. The only problem that you may incur is that the diameter of your handlebar may be too small and you would have to fit a piece of packing. The handle bar on my bike was thicker towards the middle and forced me to locate my bell at that point. Great bell, I love it.

What is the country of manufacture? (i’d rather support quality uk/ eu businesses rather than communist china. worth this little question.)

Not sure where they manufacture but it's an Australian company. Their products have always seemed ethical to me (vegan "leather" etc) so I would guess their manufacturing is too.
