Q: Is this the orthopedic bed or nesting bed? i'm seeing conflicting information and looking for more solid foam than i am shredded foam.

This item is an orthopedic bed with a solid foam mattress. We apologize that the product description mentions shredded foam; that applies to nesting beds only and not this product. Thank you for alerting us to this error; we are working on getting these pages corrected now.

Q: Are these comfortable for the dog or does it feel like they are sleeping on vinyl?

Most dogs will take to the beds without a problem, but if your dog is picky about the texture of their beds, we'd recommend checking out our TUFF Velvet Orthopedic Bed instead. It's made from all the same materials; the only difference is that the sleeping area has a layer of short polyester fibers bonded directly to the nylon to give it a softer, velvety feel that is also quieter for dogs that like to scratch at their bedding.

Q: Will velvet cover be as tough as ripstop cover? I have a heavy scratcher, not a chewer

The velvet cover uses the same ripstop material as our traditional, non-velvet options. However, the velvet has an extra layer of oft polyester fibers flocked to the ripstop material that provide the extra softness to the cover. This upper layer of polyester fibers might wear down from aggressive scratching to expose the ripstop fabric underneath. The cover will still hold up, but you may notice that it gets a "worn" look faster since the ripstop is a lighter color and will be visible under the velvet if your dog's scratching wears it away (please note that the velvet is normally very durable, and that it usually only wears out and away from heavy, relentless scratching).

Q: Do you sell replacement covers?

We have a K9 Ballistic bed and we just go to Goodwill or any thrift store and buy a few baby crib mattress/twin fitted sheets depending on the size bed you purchase, the sheets are less than $1.00 so we wash and rotate them until they're worn out and just buy a few more to replace them.
