worth it! Not snake oil.
My friend is an AV guy and does it for a hobby and is way into it and he said this is a snake oil product and I have studied electrical engineering and he could not be wronger. let's start with the beginning of stray electrons and signal noise, the standard now is coaxial cable to a router and when the 3 or 4 ethernet ports are used up you add a switch, so we are at three points that allows interference. One, the coaxial cable from the splitters out side the house from the cable company, two the router, and three a switch. So plenty of line noise (I wish I had a freq meter to measure this) from those points. this is for specific applications such as my application for devices that play music over the internet and highly sensitive networked medical devices. This is not a ethernet surge protector that are for sale here but there is no need for them, that is a whole different topic. This will not improve the sound on your Playstation because the sound is generated from files stored on the device. DACs, TVs that output to the stereo via streaming services and the AVR or AV its self.I use it on my Marantz AV10 and it plays music services built into it. that is the picture with all the cables and the TV because it has movie streaming built in and outputs audio to my AV10. And it does a fantastic job in cleaning up the signal, my first test on the AV10 with the isolator plugged in was amazon music and wow it was more clear and bass had more depth. The highs were amazing. And after getting a second one for the TV and played some streaming movies and prime videos and it was also more clear. I have a set of Revel F228be speakers and they have a awesome frequency response range and they sound great on their own, but garbage in garbage out. With the air gap isolator letting only data electrons to cross with some black magic. Please read the product description for the EverStar MI-300 that is sold here and does a great job in explaining how they work. But that one has a plastic housing and allows electromagnetic and radio frequency interference through. This one blocks that stuff. Sadly the MI-310F is hit or miss when it is in stick as I buy them when they are in stock. So bottom line, you don't need stupid expensive LAN cables as all the do is shield but the line noise will still be in the transmission of data flow. And don't get me started on power cables, your system has choke filters built in and clean up the power input. For 75 bucks more than the plastic counter part, I rather have the shielded housing.
