DEWALT 20V MAX XR Cordless Rivet Tool Review: Finally!! A Long-Awaited Addition!
The media could not be loaded. After years of anticipation and settling for competitors' models, the arrival of the DEWALT 20V MAX XR Cordless Rivet Tool, specifically the 3/16" model, has been a game-changer for us. Our journey to this point, however, has been mixed with both excitement and a tinge of disappointment regarding DEWALT's pace of innovation. It's been a long wait for a tool that, in our view, DEWALT should have introduced much earlier, given their reputation for leading rather than following in the tool industry.Receiving the rivet tool was quick and hassle-free, thanks to Amazon Prime. The product packaging was quintessentially DEWALT—yellow and black, simple yet effective, with the tool securely encased and plastic-wrapped. Opting for the model without batteries and chargers was a practical choice for us, given our ample supply of DEWALT batteries and chargers from previous purchases over the last forever. In our hands-on experience, showcased through a brief video demonstration (despite some interruptions), the rivet tool proved its worth across various materials and rivet sizes. Its performance was flawless, with no misfires or issues, echoing DEWALT's commitment to quality and reliability. The design deviates slightly from competitors, featuring detachable attachments that pop in behind the collection chamber instead of behind the battery pack—a thoughtful touch that enhances convenience and reduces the risk of losing them.Yet, our enthusiasm for this specific tool is tempered by broader concerns about DEWALT's current trajectory. A pivot, seemingly towards mass-market appeal over high end contractor products, sparks a desire to see DEWALT reclaim its innovative edge and leadership in catering to professional needs. Thankfully, we now have this rivet tool and the larger rivet tool on the way to review next.Despite these broader reflections, the 20V MAX XR Cordless Rivet Tool itself stands as a testament to DEWALT's capability to produce top-tier tools. Its addition allows us to maintain a unified battery platform, leveraging our existing DEWALT battery ecosystem, from 20V to the hefty 60V options, for varying power needs. While we haven't quantified the tool's capacity in terms of rivet shots per battery charge, the wide range of compatible batteries ensures flexibility and prolonged use. Thank youIn conclusion, the DEWALT 20V MAX XR Cordless Rivet Tool is a stellar, much-needed addition to our toolkit, offering seamless performance and integration with our DEWALT ecosystem. As we integrate this tool into our daily operations, we remain hopeful that DEWALT will steer back towards its roots of innovation and quality, distinguishing itself once again as the go-to brand for professional-grade innovative tools.

I promise, you won’t be disappointed by this purchase.
This item just arrived, and I couldn’t wait to try it out on my first project! All I can say is “WOW!” This tool is awesome! It pops rivets like firing a pistol - you pull the trigger, and the rivet is popped! No wait. No strain. Just gets the job done instantly! Highly recommend this tool, if you’re a DeWalt fan, you won’t be disappointed! I’m using 3/16” aluminum and stainless steel rivets.

Wish I had this years ago
Time to face facts, I'm getting older, repeatedly squeezing something to death all day makes my hands sore. I was half way through building vents and doors for my greenhouse, my hands were killing me, the rivet gun broke, I did a search and this came up. I'm already married to yellow tools, found this as a resale item at a significant savings. The ease and performance is truly amazing! Project is complete, rivets are set, cleanup was faster with all the mandrels in the little cup. Do not hesitate, this tool is fantastic.

Great Rivet Gun with Hiccups
This rivet gun has been awesome in my tool collection so far. It gets the job done, however.... it does come with hiccups, which in this case is acceptable and the reason I didn't degrade it or any stars. That hiccups? Like others have said, the stem from the rivets does get stuck in the chamber of the rivet gun. This is acceptable (by me anyway) because I understand that this is not an air tool, whereas the air would pull the stem through the chamber of the rivet gun. The solution to this? Inserting your next rivet of the same size (which will push the stem out of the chamber and into the collection cup without error) and keep things moving. Doing things this way is a huge time saver than tearing the tool down just to clear a simple jammed stem. Besides, I found it harder to remove the stuck stem that way, and much easier to send it through to the collection cup simply by pushing it through with another rivet of the same size. Hope this helps. I'm looking forward to having this tool in my ever growing collection of tools for many years to come.

Don't fool around, spend the money! It's worth it!
Hey, I bought a cheap Chinese POS and threw away $100 because I was being frugal. Well, it won't do the job on stainless steel blind rivets, period. Bought the DeWalt rivet gun and it ran through a 100 SS blind rivets like they weren't there. I used it with SS washer backings and steel and wood material without a hitch. I could have saved myself some money had I gone with the DeWalt first.I bought the no frills tool only, as I had DeWalt 20V batteries already. I love the bit storage it has built in and it comes with an extra jaw. Frankly, I'm thrilled with the way the rivet gun works and it's long lasting battery power. It's worth the money, so buy it!
