Not good for flat bottom shoes.
Kind of odd. It does protect the shoe. It stays on. I'm only deducting the two stars because on any shoe that is flat-ish (not deep tread) the strap which goes under the bottom right at the ball of the foot has a rubber strap protector on it, and that will "roll" when pressure is applied which causes the foot to slip when I put my feet down at intersections. It is disconcerting and unstable, almost dropped my bike a couple times.

Elastic bands quickly wear out and plastic tubes cause you to lose foot traction
Update after 10 months of weekend use. The protective tubing and the underling elastic straps wore out completely to the point the tube disappeared and the elastic bands under the sole separated completely. See the attached picture. Even for its advertised use of a scuff protector unless you basically don't walk on it its not rugged enough to last. A shifter pad it doesnt have much padding but it does prevent scuffing on your nice shoes if you ride your motorcycle to work. I got this for more has a pad between my foot and the shifter than a scuff protector. After a few hundred miles of use Ive noticed that the tubes used to protect the elastic bands under your foot are slipper when you put your foot down on asphalt, especially if it hot or your on a oil spot. Once I had to catch myself from laying the bike down when I my foot slipped on the from the tubes. So I hold back 1 star due to this. Also the protective tubes on the bottom wear away after about 5,000 miles of travel and eventually fall off and the bands holding it in place seperate apart.

does exactly what it's supposed to and does it well
Use this all the time. No complaints and other motorcyclists as me about it. Keeps shifter from ruining my shoes. it's in exactly the right place. Easy to take on and off and never slips. On thing to be careful about is that when you move your foot from the bottom to the top of the shifter to up/down shift is this skin can snag on the edge of the shifter. This is because you have an additional piece of something on your shoe that makes your foot wider and so you're not used to it. Not a complaint about the product because this would happen with any skin. Wear real motorcycle boots or junk shoes if you don't like it.Wish it had better traction when you're walking your bike while sitting on it.

Poorly made.
Sadly if you ride as much as I do this shifter is not for you. I ran into the same issue of the material ripping and falling apart. Great design just needs to be manufactured to last. Wish I could get my money back for this. Oh well. If you are a lite rider once or twice a week this may be for you but keep in mind it will eventually fall apart.

Protects the shoe but.....
The hard rubber thats on the bottom side of the shoe is very slippery on the road. For example, at a red light when i put my feet down, if im not careful, my left leg will slip away from me and if i had a heavier bike i might be aboue to catch it in time. Other than that, no complaints. Protects my boot from the wear and tear of the shifter

No more left shoes marks
Contrary to what others say on the comments, the bottom plastic is not that slippery. You can just balance with your other leg and heel of the left foot,if it is a problem for you. But a responsible motorcyclist should know how to stand well enough that this is not concern. I use it all the time and like it a lot. It is not very comfortable if you have on small loafers or Tom's shoes, but you can tighten the strap.

Good Shoe/Boot Protection
I like this boot scuff guard. It keeps my clutch from tearing into my shoes/boots while riding my motorcycle. The 2 braces on the bottom can slide a little depending on how you rest the ball of your foot on the ground, and the texture of the ground when coming to a stop.

OK PRODUCT.
As far as it working to keep my shoes from getting scuffed, it worked great, kind of confusing to put on at first but once you figure it out its not bad. There is no padding on the inside to keep your foot from hurting due to shifting up excessively from bikes that are hard at gear changing. I eventually returned to get something else.

Saves my riding boots
I have an old bike with a rough shifter and have ruined 2 boots in the past year. This is a quick, easy fix for protecting my boot. Stays in place when I'm riding and doesn't interfere with my ability to ride safely. Easy to put on and take off. The only part I don't care for is the way the Velcro really doesn't line up as well as the picture shows, but that could be due to the style of my riding boot.

Good shoe protection, poor traction
These work great to protect your boot from an early retirement, but the part that goes under the shoe is plastic. I guess its soposed to protect the elastic straps from tearing. As all x-tream sports fans know, plastic slides very easily on most hard surfaces, even on snow. I almost ate it once but my heal saved my arss. Just use more caution when planting your left foot and you should be OK. I'm happy with my purchase.

Mostly good
Fits my military boots and keeps the scuffs off. It can be slippery on the ground, because the bottom of it is plastic. If it was made of rubber or had rubber dots on it it would grip better, but you get used to how you have to put your foot down. Better than having that scuff mark on my suede boots.

Works well for my size 13 hiking shoes
I bought this because after a few hours of riding my toe knuckle gets sore from upshifting. I rode for 14 hours over two days with the Skinz on and I had no soreness. It's pretty well maxed out in adjustment for my size 13 Merrills. It is slippery when walking as others have said, but you get used to it.

Great idea, does its job, but...
This product works, it is a great idea, however like many other reviewers have stated; the straps that secure the bottom of the shoe/boot are covers in plastic, thus tends to slide on top of the pavement.
