Great webcam a 3D printer. Plug & Play with OctoPi!
Works great! Plugged it into a RPi4B and it detected it right away. Had OctoPi up and running with a better camera than what came with my printer. Good picture quality and it does great on timelapse with the autofocus.

Works great for lightburn
Works good, but when you plug it in, it automatically sets itself up in Windows, which is great, unless you are going to use it as a Lightburn camera. It took a long time to figure out why lightburn could not find it. Well, because it was already being used by Windows! Once I clicked to disable it in Windows, Lightburn found it, and I did the setup procedure.

Super-sharp quality camera.
I initially selected the "ELP" USB camera module to have another gadget for my electronics or Arduino projects. Upon arrival, I plugged it into my Dell laptop to test it and was blown away by the quality. It was so much more than what I was expecting for a little single-board module like this. I was able to switch back and forth between the new ELP camera and my PCs built-in HD web cam and the difference was phenomenal. Not only does it live up to the online listed specs, but several additional little qualities: adjusting from dark to light, the crispness around object edges, good field-of-depth view and the colors are as true as possible. The only little quirk I didn't care for was the auto-focus feature. It seems like it'd either take forever to settle on a final setting or it would start again with the slightest movement. Fortunately, just about all camera software nowadays lets you disable this.

Works With Windows and Linux, Autofocus is marginal
I plugged this into a Windows 11 PC and a Linux Ubuntu PC and both of them recognized the device without any new software needing to be loaded. The picture quality is good, I wouldn't put it at great but for a camera this small it is very clear and the auto focus worked nicely. The lens has a small piece of clear plastic covering it when it's shipped, I wonder if a few people that wrote reviews re camera quality maybe left that plastic on, it's not easy to see or remove... You do have two screw holes in one end and one near the other end, should be pretty easy to 3D print a small enclosure to house this device. Update: I've printed a nice housing for this and installed it on a windows 11 pc. The picture quality is very nice but now that I'm trying to use it I'm finding that the autofocus is pretty bad. It will focus on you if you sit still for a few seconds but then if you move forward or backward it goes way out of focus and won't always focus on you at all. A few times it just decided to lock onto the wall behind me. The reason that I still give this 3 stars is because I found that it works well if I turn the autofocus off and just do a manual focus. This works perfectly for me since I'm just sitting a few feet away from the camera, this wouldn't work well if you want to use it for any moving objects.

Decent Camera for Industerial / Specialized Applications
Date: 2023/11/12 Item: ELP 8mp USB Camera Module with Microphone Autofocus PC Camera for Computer 4K VINE DISCLAIMER: -------------------------------- In the spirit of full disclosure, I received this product free as part of the Amazon Vine program. My methodology for Vine Program products is to give a more thorough -- often product-destructive -- review. If I like the product, I buy my own version of it, otherwise, it gets donated post-testing. I also may include my opinion on the product's value proposition to the market. REVIEW: -------------------------------- So this module is more for the person making a product or using it in an industrial application (they even list it as a camera for an engraving device), so my testing in a normal office space may not exactly fit the bill. But I think if you're looking up these modules, you're probably doing some tinkering and not thinking about using this as a webcam. Initial installation was handled by Windows 10 and completely seamless. Plugging the camera in to the USB port, waiting for the "device ready" message, and then opening the Microsoft Camera app allowed me to connect to see the image. I imagine Linux will be slightly more involved depending the distro you use, but likely not too much for most people. Initial impressions is that it's a quality sensor for the price (supposedly a Sony IMX179-series, as an aside, Sony has a rather unintuitive way of giving their sensor modules a model number so don't go thinking too much into that number), which you may find in many other products. The sensor itself is quite small, with the board being large I think just for user ease of handling/usage. Again, think of this form-factor more for prototyping where you determine the sensor you'll use and then design an end-product with just the sensor module in-mind. I'm sure some products may use the entire board in a product, but I wouldn't consider that normal for anything of sufficient volume. Judging the slightly different lighting scenarios, especially one where you had sunlight coming in so it really messes with the auto-exposure of camera modules, I found it performed well (see example photos). Still objects focused and look pretty good. Colors were decent, but the best, and there could be some noise found as the amount of light was reduced. Overall, at ~$33, it's a good module -- but make sure you know what you're planning to use it for and what features you want. If you're looking for a USB-camera to attach to a Pi for some project, you maybe able to get a mass-produced webcam with more functionality for the same price and just strip off the housing. END NOTE: -------------------------------- And with all the reviews I do, if there's ever a problem with this product, I will edit (if able) to update this review. These will be denoted in an "UPDATES" section.

Bare Bones Camera Works
I did not evaluate the video quality since i just needed a distinguishable image, and that is what i got on both a Samsung phone and Linux PC. The instructions recommended using "USB Camera" app from the app store which worked for me after connecting to my phone thru a USB-A to C adapter. For my Linux PC the instruction was to use the program "Cheese" which also worked fine. The microphone worked in both of these cases. This is a wired USB device, small and easily concealed.
