A gift for my son
We could be described as a Makita family, as both my son and I use the 18v range of Makita cordless power tools. He tells me that this latest addition to his tool kit, that he uses as a film and TV Prop Model Maker, is a real “workhorse” and saves hours of manual labour. We both have the cordless drill and impact driver options, but this tool is great for getting into tight gaps (with its 90 degree head) where these do not fit.With a 5Ah battery fitted it is well balanced and not too heavy, its’ weight being comparable with the impact driver using the same capacity battery. The speed control is nice and linear, especially at the low speed end of the range, and falls to hand when holding it in normal use.This product only has one problem, and that is my son has it (he lives over 100 miles away) and I don’t - he lets me borrow it when he visits but I may treat myself to one as it’s a great tool.

When combined with an ordinary impact bit or better yet a short impact bit
Not as powerful as other drivers, but for tight spaces this is unbeatable. When combined with an ordinary impact bit or better yet a short impact bit, it can get into the tightest of spaces and even beats hand tools. It is comfortable to hold and easy to use, but for ordinary screw driving you might prefer a more powerful driver. This is only rated to 60Nm, whereas other drivers can double that torque.
