Worked like a charm
Invariably, my in-laws will approach me with statements such as "The Google isn't working" or "We can't get anything to come up," after which my stomach will knot up a bit, knowing what IT frustrations lie ahead. Usually, their computer is infected with malware and/or viruses due to the fact that they've let their Internet Security software lapse. So, in I go. This time, I made it easy on myself. I took the plunge on the FixMeStick and also got AVG Internet Security (2013) on a disk (since the Internet wasn't working and was untrustworthy). The FixMeStick is hardly cheap, so it was a tough decision. I went over to my in-laws' house, plugged the FixMeStick into their computer (already on) and let the stick do its thing. It updates itself and has you restart the computer, after which it boots up and looks through all your files. It took about 2.5 hours to analyze the in-laws' computer (the FixMeStick software has a status bar, etc.), after which it provides a list of files that it quarantined. Note that the FixMeStick is NOT a substitute for anti-virus/anti-malware software. It's designed to find problems on your computer and, basically, sequester them. And it's supposedly good for three computers. That doesn't mean can only use it three times, just on three distinct computers. After a year of use, I believe you can refresh your stick (for a fee, naturally), sort of like you do with anti-virus software. Anyway, once the FixMeStick was finished, I used an Internet browser and everything was quite zippy (when before it had been crushingly slow). I then loaded on the AVG Internet Security software and let it upgrade itself. Then I scanned the computer and called it a day. Enter: Happy In-Laws. Although the price was steep, it was well worth it. Highly recommended.

Ad states states you don't need an Inter-net connection but ask to connect to Inter-net in step one
I have two lap top computers one is running windows 10 this is a older computer but not that old say around 5 years. About 6 months ago it started acting up by not booting up correctly along with more and more problems, such as not connecting to my web browser and other crazy things. I kept up on running all my virus protection programs, that kept telling me all clear. I was nearing the point of just purchasing a new computer. When I saw an ad for the Fixmestick. The claims they made sounded like it could be a last chance effort for my computer. So being a skeptic of any inter-net adโs I started researching this product. After checking it out on the inter-net I went to Amazon and started reading everything posted by ratings and question & replies. After reading over many reviews and questions, I decided to take a chance and order one. Many people reported having problems booting up the Fixmestick. I was surprised when it came in just a plastic bag and little cardboard start up instruction sheet and that was all. However, I followed the instruction and had no problems booting the on broad program. This is where I started to find a few discrepancies in their advertising. They claim that you do not need an inter-net connection, but the first thing the system request is to connect to your inter-net to update and register your device. After following the connection instructions, the program seen to run with out any problems. My computer ran for about 3 hours. At the end it found 4 problems, and advised me to hit clean. When I rebooted my computer after removing the stick my computer was running back to itโs original condition. Much to my surprise 98% of the problems were gone. Now I feel that I no longer need a new computer, and can easily work around the small problems that I feel are a soft wear issue and not related to a infection on my computer. Bottom line was this worked on both my computers however I would take down the tech support number from Amazon Q/A just in case, Even though I didnโt need it. Also I would strongly recommend have a inter-net connection be for purchasing. In my case it was worth the purchase, However I am only rating this product 4 stars due to misinformation in the ad and very poor instructions with the product.

A Worthwhile Leap of Fate
The process was awesome (and I don't usually use that word). It did all of its preliminary things and then started the real work. Once through I had a chance and took it, to quarantine all of the evil things it found. When I was through (it was through), I wanted to tap it on my desk to empty any bad things that may have been stuck (I didn't do that but I wanted to). I put the lid back on and crowed my delight until - - - my husband wanted me to do it on his laptop. Caveat: The instructions for use are brief and clear and simple but read them and be sure you understand them before you put the thumb drive in. I scanned them and was too full of myself to read and understand them. No calamity just some time wasted. If you're not familiar with the names by which the evils go, it may require a leap of faith to believe that they have been found and ready for quarantine. Support is fast and helpful. I braved my husband's laptop and it worked there as well even though I lacked the familiarity with how the laptop worked; the Stick worked well even accepting my ignorance on how to move the cursor about and how to make selections. It takes a long time for it to complete its work. At least a couple of hours, but it does display the elapsed time and the remaining time. It even has a sense of humor. At one point it said, okay go take a break and come back later, I've got things under control. And it did!

It works! It works!!! All files saved, clean, virus gone and new viruses blocked!!!
After being hacked over 10 times in the past 5 years by phony high priced competing vision teachers, book sellers from Milan, Italy and Kiev, Ukraine; I was forced to learn computer security. I will not reveal the main secrets here. But this information will help some people; I bought Fixmestick. It works! 3 computers for 1 year. Sometimes I need to also do other things after Fixmestick; (I wont list all here because the 2 hackers watch my Amazon reviews, pages and gang together with about 5 other people, troll, attack our products, books... and try to learn how I been 'successfully' protecting myself against them.) I did this to fix 2 computers the hackers infected; The virus was so bad! Got in the drive, windows, cpu, bios.. It blocked my access to the internet, then computer. But they continued to have access to the computer. They locked me out! And then they started to try to steal my files.., lock-corrupt them. Steps; (Someone with more experience probably knows a quicker way, order to do this. My new tech has changed it and added other things.) Do Fixmestick 1st. Then; clean the drive, bios and cpu. Unplug everything inside the computer. Remove the battery. Learn how to reset, clear the bios, cpu, all things inside the computer. Do Fixmestick again. Then; restore the system to factory state; wipe the drive clean; do a full system wipe/recovery. (If tech savvy; wipe the drive when its removed by using a special device.) Do Fixmestick again. Open computer, unplug all again to reset bios, cpu... Keep repeating the steps until the computer is clear. Wish I had Fixmestick before I gave up and gave away 2 of my old computers I thought were broken. It was only a virus. Virus got into power setting or something; would not turn on. I bet Fixmestick could have fixed that computer too. I kept a few other broken computers and was able to fix all with Fixmestick and gift them to friends. I now have a technician I pay monthly; each time I am on-line on Skype... anywhere; after I am off-line; I give the computer to the tech. He cleans it. We have a lot of computers now; kept in constant cycle. Use one online, then give to the tech to wipe clean. Use a new clean computer for the next Skype... contact online. For actions like using passwords, files, our websites on-line; I use a different computer and different internet service... (cant reveal all). And still have the tech clean the computer after I visit the internet. Computers are kept in rotation; constantly using a new, clean one. We also use other security, secret ways to block intruders. This has helped us focus on our work, business. And leave the hackers, worries, time consuming repairs in the past. I was not going to do a review because; then the hackers will see it and know one thing I use to protect my computers. But Fixmestick has been so nice, customer service helpful, calls me back... I had to thank them. And; most people know about Fixmestick anyway; is helping a lot of people. It is on TV... There are other reasons I feel its safe to post this review. But wont tell ya here! Thank you Fixmestick! IMPORTANT; On Jan 1st, 2016; I used the stick and it showed 2 trojans. Happened on 2 computers after using it on a 3rd first and suspected something wrong because it seemed to be shutting off my internet and could not update the 2nd time after it started in full screen. But it seemed to scan ok, no virus. So; I tried the stick on the other 2 computers. Internet connection ok but then it showed the 2 Trojans, said computer may be infected. I let the Fixmestick remove them. This caused access to and function of security, firewall, control panel, tons of functions to stop working. Ahhh! Files seem ok. Fixmestick will sometimes (rarely) detect normal things on the computer and ask if you want to remove them. They sometimes label them as trojans. I had this problem recently and did the following reversal below. I could not find trojans in the computer by doing a search. Sometimes the stick really finds trojans... and the trojan really has that name. But if not; the stick will still label as trojan if it is a trojan or suspected trojan. This is how I fixed the problem; I turned on the stick again. Click to undo the last quarantine; it reversed the last action and the computer is normal again. System restore also works, but; hackers often also infect restore points. (I use the stick as a monthly check. I did not have any reason to use it this time; no problem with computer.) To be safe I also did a fill recovery... and the stick continued to work. Called support; they said the stick update did not go correct on all 3 computers. I wonder if a hacker interfered with the update or if my internet cord broke. FixmeStick gave me a secret way to update the stick completely. All is well now. Update Jan 15, 2016; Fixmestick found 3 things during new scan and labeled as Trojans, removed them, put in quarantine. See picture and video. Computer was basically ok before removing them but the internet was weird, like my ip was wrong or spyware following me; websites signing me out, asking for the password again. After removed the 3 things with the stick; no problems on internet and computer very fast! Handles a 1GB pdf... But: I want the Fixmestick tech to go into my computer to look at these because removing them did cause some options on reboot to be removed. Maybe that is good. The options returned after windows update. I want a tech to check the quarantine to be sure what the 3 things the stick removed are. So I know exactly what is going on with the computer. Some might be windows updates or are Trojans. (2 business competitors are always trying to hack my computers.) Microsoft recently updated the computer, I re-ran the stick; 2 and 1/2 hours and says computer is clean. Its working very well! Tech is going to call me back and look at the quarantine before I permanently delete it. After about a week, asking the techs on phone, email, support website to please go into my computer to look at the quarantine and tell me if it is a trojan or is part of a program, windows and needs to be put back in the computer; the techs could help me. Told me there is no way they can know what the quarantine is. I sent them a video of it, picture; still no help and 2 techs did not understand the question 5 times. So they seem to talk me out of pursuing the question. But; the computer was working ok again after a windows update. If there was a problem the tech would of stayed with me. Also; 3 techs say its abnormal for a scan to run 20 minutes and my scans were incomplete on those short ones on a diff computer. New tech says its normal sometimes. I notice other reviewers say they had similar problems with the stick saying it finds a trojan; then after allowing quarantine; the computer is missing a lot of functions. But undo of quarantine is always available. On one support website; it says it really may be a trojan. That most of time it is a trojan/virus and in these stubborn cases there is a work around. I am keeping at 5 stars; the stick still helps a lot. I uploaded a video and picture. Not sure if Amazon is going to post it. I suspect the FixmeStick has become popular because it works. Many people buy it, more customers call in to learn how to use it, so they have to hire more techs. Not all can help you 100% on day one of their job but if you keep calling, you get one of the higher level techs. The FixmeStick is constantly being upgraded; this keeps it able to detect new viruses and windows updates. Give it time. So far the computer is working fine. I deleted the quarantine from the computer, don't need a undo this time. I save a copy of the quarantine on cd, the scripts the hackers use! Give it to my security guy when he's back from Florida vacation. Going to do this with every Trojan, virus... and give a copy to my business friends, post directions online so they know how to protect their computers from hackers. Final thought; Even with all cords and battery unplugged, bios reset 2x and full system recovery; I doubt this fully clears all scripts, codes.... in the drive... because; a power on password is never removed after all this and the drive must be storing a original windows version for recoveries. So; can a hacker infect that? Fixmestick keeps removing/quarantining a Disk4/backup, recovery... something like that. Time to learn how to completely erase the drive, cpu... and put a new windows in from a DVD. UPDATE. For about 2 months; same problem with Fixmestick finding Trojans that might not be Trojans. But some may be. Anyway; If I allow more updates after I install windows 8.1; the stick only scans about 30 minutes. And this is supposed to be wrong. Its supposed to scan deep, fully and take at least 1 to 2 1/2 hours. So; if I suspect a virus I do a system and CPU, BIOS complete cleaning, recovery. Then; I do Fixmestick and still is at 35 minutes. Then I do all updates from windows 8 build to 8.1. Then STOP updates. Then scan with Fixmestick; it scans over a hour and finds a thing they call Trojan in Backup, Disk 3... Same as previously. I remove it. Lately when I remove this there are no problems with other software... But; if I do more updates; I think this is what is causing the stick to revert to partial 20 to 35 minute scans. Or it IS some weird virus. (I do have 2 hackers 'business competitors' on my back) Whatever it is; virus or Microsoft 8.1 colliding with Windows 10; the FixmeStick works after I do that other recovery stuff and the computer is perfect and fast. UPDATE: Aug 2016; Review changed to 3 star; 95% of the time the stick only scans for 23 minutes. Does not find virus. I had to learn how to completely clean my computers myself. Barely use the stick now. Might be good in some cases to help make a full clean of drives, cpu, bios, ect.... easier, but the advertisements on TV for it scanning entire computer in 2-3 hours full scan... used to be true, now is false! It used to work that way but seems Microsoft... (seller of its own virus software) has altered things to prevent this. Fixmestick upgrades... cant get around it. Multiple contact to customer service was no help. They finally decided to get rid of me by stating "its normal for the scan to be only 20 minutes". I find this to be false because the scan says no virus, but computer still broken. So; I do my own clean of the computer; that fixes it, works perfect. The main techs that created Fixmestick are overwhelmed with sales, customers. I think its so popular that they are hiring too many low grade techs. And; all of them cant figure out how to get around sneaky updates Microsoft... puts in the computer to block the sticks full function. Well; at lease t I learned how to be my own tech.

Nice Support People but Ineffective Product
I recently began to see warnings that Malwarebytes and Norton internet security were blocking malware on my computer from contacting malicious websites. Although the activity was blocked neither were detecting the malware in scans. Also multiple com surrogate processes were running on my machine and using most of the resources. After some research I learned of Fixmestick and purchased it from amazon. I ran a scan and it told me it had removed and quarantined 13 trojans. Upon rebooting my computer, however, the same malware warnings and com surrogate processes began to appear again. I called Fixmestick and they told me that 13 browser hijacker Trojans had been removed but that changes they had made to the internet browsers needed to be corrected manually. They sent me instructions for making the corrections. I attempted to make the corrections to the browsers but the instructions did not match some of the features of the browsers so I could not. In the meantime the warnings and com surrogates began to appear again. I called Fixmestick support and they hooked up remotely to my computer. To my surprise after making a few tweaks to the browsers and removing a couple of bloatware programs that had been on the machine for 3 years before these problems developed, They then ran a 30 day free trial version of a third part malware scanner to look for what Fixmestick missed. It found nothing. No manual virus removal methods were used (e.g. looking for and fixing problems in the registry) nor were any specialized in-house tools used. I didnโt see much expertise in malware removal. With respect to the 13 trojans removed by fixmestick; I looked in the quarantine file and none were identified as trojans. 10 of the 13 were Norton setup and download manager files. I asked fixmestick to explain that and they said that the Trojans donโt show up in the quarantine folder named as such but what I as seeing was infected files. I suspect these were false detections. Every other malware detection I have employed has identified the malware by name. Also, some of the โinfectedโ files were downloads of Norton virus removal tools that I had downloaded to address the problems I was experiencing and could not have been the source of the problem. I was pleased with the friendliness and availability of Fixmestick support but that was the only amazing aspect of it. The methods employed and outcome were disappointing. I still have the trojan, multiple com surrogate processes, and an almost useless computer. I have returned this for a refund and would not recommend it to anyone.

Great Item! Recommend to All!
FixMeStick is excellent! It got rid of Malware that was missed by Norton, AVG and Comodo. That alone makes it worth the price. I cleared a Trojan with Norton using their apps and instructions which the Norton suite directed me to. My PC still ran 'squirrely'. Based on PC Mag reviews I chose to then run AVG, which cleared two more Trojans which either a) were missed by Norton or b) were new since I cleared the first Trojan. I think AVG also got some Malware but I am not technically expert enough to say that for sure. After AVG I ran Comodo which didn't turn up anything else. Based on Amazon reviews and the information in this link [...] I got this and ran it last, the next day after running AVG and Commodo. It picked up three major Malwares and two minor ones. This is straightforward and easy to use. You plug it in the USB port. The "Run Fix Me Stick" didn't show up on my desktop but it was right there when I searched my external drives using Windows Explorer. It ties up your PC while it runs. After about two hours it showed me the Malware and I clicked once and it was gone.

Takes HOURS to run it. Comes with no instructions.
The reason I bought this is because I keep having to remove some spyware, or malware, or virus that keeps coming up in my Spybot. Now, it's true, Spybot calls out a lot of harmless stuff asking if you want to delete it, but I'm pretty sure when the indicator is in the red, that it's not good for my computer. Anyway, this thing is NOT plug-n-play. You have to launch it, so it's not for grandmothers who cannot figure out how to use a computer. It might not launch correctly and then you have to re-launch it. It took a LOOONG time to update. Over 3 hours to run. It found nothing. Computer is out of service that entire time. I bought it already, so I am running it on my mini lap top and will run it on my seldom-used big desk box. I really needed it to find something on my laptop, and I'm just not convinced that nothing is there just because it said it found nothing. Also, heads-up, it comes in a large (for it's size) box, that when you open it immediately looks completely empty. Once again, your grandmother types would immediately meltdown. Hell, I freaked out for for about 1.8 seconds until I stuck my nose into the box and saw the thing slotted into the side. Anyway. I feel like it costs too much, but maybe I don't know the tech behind it. It seems to be unclear about whether it removes malware. The packaging says anti-virus and nothing else, but then when the program updates itself for 20 minutes it says it's updating it's malware detection...I wanted to be impressed. I just don't feel like it's doing anything more than what the free version of Spybot is doing, if that.

Possible Stocking Stuffer
This very interesting flash drive security program has now worked on 3 separate PCs as advertised. One is still running or being run on as I write this review, and on other two, both Dells, the first had a single hidden virus and on the second, 8. All missed by other programs such as Malaware, which I still think is pretty good itself. This program obviously runs off the flash drive. Be aware that there are several ways to boot it and that starting the program takes some time as it looks to update. With the first two machines most of the process looked to be automatic, with the third, the machine left Windows but then the program started up in DOS. There are explanatory instructions that come with the flash drive. In every instance the program looks to update. A week ago it took a few minutes with the first machine. Today with the second, about twenty minutes, and I infer it was a real update, and now again today with the third, since we were already updated, it was about 30 seconds. With these PCs all a few years old,, the first using XP and the others Windows 7, the actually scan takes several hours. Don't stare and watch, and the software suggests you disappear. When it's finished you will find either no or some viruses. Be sure to tell the program to quarantine these. Then follow the instructions for removal of the flash drive, which in involves turning the machine off before removing the flash drive. It works. and it will fit in Christmas stocking. I plan at first to run it monthly to see what I pick up.

First Class Problem Fixer
One of my elderly laptops was riddled with problems. I couldn't open any browser, as soon as I did so, loads of junk pages opened, and kept opening! I couldn't keep my chosen tab open long enough before more tabs opened! In addition, my touchpad hadn't worked for a couple of years, and all attempts to fix it had failed. The FixMeStick was my saviour! Although it took two runs of the programme, each of which involved about 7 hours of scanning, my laptop is now working properly, I can open browsers and use the touchpad. I was very dubious as to whether the FixMeStick could get me up and running again. I am most impressed, would recommend this to anyone! But a word of advice - be patient, let the process run overnight if necessary (make sure you are connected to mains power) and you should be pleasantly surprised.

The product was not really straight forward and easy to use.
The set up was easy enough but I needed to reboot my PC 3 times in order to start the process. There is a note about that so fair enough but after I thought I am on the way to start the process I just got stuck on a third part and it seems after a long waiting I just wasn't going anywhere with it so went on to find other solutions.
