Day & Night (Quilt in a Day)

While the template was supposed to be included with the book, it was not. HOWEVER, for those who need the template, the Quilt In A Day website has a limited number of them available.

I bought this quilt pattern because I had seen a sample in a quilt store done all in black and white and thought it would make a wonderful quilt for a guy (my son). I wasn't wrong. Although the cover shows a quilt with three colors, the pattern booklet includes instructions for making the quilt both with three or with two colors (Yippee! I didn't have to figure it out myself!) and in any size you want, from a tablerunner to a king size quilt. Wow, what more could you ask for! Well, for more, as usual, Eleanor Burns makes quilt making fun and easy. Although I've never been able to do a "Quilt in a Day", her strip methods really do let you work up your quilt quickly. Also, there are all kinds of color variation suggestions (with great color photographs); wonderful seam pressing instructions; and complete finishing directions (binding, quilting). All of this information makes this perfect for a beginner quilter, yet the great design makes it fun and interesting for more advanced quilters. All in all, a great booklet.

This is one of the best patterns I have ever had. Eleanor does the best step by step instructions I have seen. And I you follow the instructions the quilt will go together easily and flawlessly

The book is in decent shape, so that's fine, but the acrylic ruler was NOT included as it should have been AND as was stated in the product information. That information needs to be updated to state that the ruler is not with the book since it was supposed to come with it. Without that ruler (the book shows a picture of it but doesn't give its measurements) you pretty much have to wing it to cut the shapes. I'm giving the seller two stars because of that misleading information.

I did not see where the "Day and Night" quilt book did not have the acrylic template included which is part of the book package. I will have to see if one can be made for me to do the project.

I would recommend this to anyone interested in quilting or even those who have been quilting. Easy to read and understandable.

I'm not a beginning quilter, but my crazy life demands that I make the quick and easy quilts if I'm ever planning to finish one! I haven't made an entire quilt yet, but I did four blocks---which I think they intend for use as a table runner---and made it into a square wallhanging. The process does use a lot of fabric, but it could not be easier! Eleanor Burns gives great directions and wonderful illustrations, so every quilter can be successful at this pattern. I even found that the pieces were cut so perfectly that I didn't have to worry about matching seams...I just lined up everything evenly on the cut edges and sewed, and the seams on the piecing were PERFECT! Highly recommend this book to every quilter, as long as you are comfortable with your rotary cutter. Buy this book, and have fun!

I really liked this block after seeing one made by one of my quilt guild members. Borrowed the book and quickly decided I needed this book for my library; already have the fabric to make the quilt! As this book came with the required template, that alone was a great money and time saver. Eleanor Burns' books are well written with step by step directions that a novice quilter like me can easily follow.

The book was excellent but I bought the book for the template ... that was missing ...still cant make the quilt !!

arrived in good time, book is in perfect condition and intact. Beautifully written by the author and very easy to follow instructions (especially if you watch the video online as well)
