Good quality and good value for money
Good quality, good value for money, easy to use and very useful.

Works as stated, and very simple and easy to use, with a good little information booklet.
I bought the one with the transparent cover, glad I did, it helps protect it from people like me. This is a super little device, simple and easy to use, and within half an hour I had sorted my 50 or so cables, and found the vast majority were not data cables, and those that were, all but one worked fine. Very good value for the money, and worked on all the cables I tested. There are some that are not compatible, but the PCB would need to be huge to accommodate everything, but this is great for all the usual ones that plug into a PC.

A useful passive USB lead tester, but no cable current capacity display.
Useful to identify if cable has USB 2 and/or 3 data, or dodgy connections. I found one cable with no shield connection, and iffy other connections, a USB-A to USB-C cable with only USB 2 D+/- connections, and various cables with no data connections. I assume the ID LED is for micro USB OTG adapters. It would have been nice, for this to also included an estimated display of the total cable resistance of both power connections or the maximum power they can carry at 5V and higher PD voltages, for in-specification voltage drop; this requires measurements at both ends of a USB cable. This maybe cheaply estimated using a tiny microcontroller with multiple ADCs, to measure total cable voltage drop for the supply current to and from both the VBUS and GND LEDs (loads), to allow calculation and display on a tiny LCD or OLED display. I don't know if the active USB tester, of this brand, provides such power capacity estimation with its active data testing, and is limited to USB-A/C to USB-C testing.

USB tester - good to have it around!
It's a very nifty little tool. Very easy to use and easy to read. You don't need much more than this. It has a lot of functions and you can test a lot of types of cables.

Every person should have one.
Every person should have one. This has to be one of them gadgets many just do not want to be without, You are most certainly at a great disadvantage not having one. There are a number of positives about this unit in what it will do for you, the main one is a "What If" You lost your lead to your phone, needing desperately to download or upload something to or from your phone. There is a spare cable that will fit your phone. However, Is it a Charge lead only, or Data and charge lead? As you may already know if it is a "Charge Only" lead you wont be uploading or downloading data because it won't register on your device as a Drive. So now test all them cables to figure if its a data cable or a charging only cable. You probably have tons of charge only leads, Time for a sort out. The beauty about this unit is it tests for shielding. This on its own was a reason i purchased the unit. I could not find the original cable anywhere for a Peterson Guitar Tuner Unit, so was using this cable i had lying around, anytime this unit was connected it always had a noise, irritating but could never source where the noise was coming from but it was definitely this cable, why? Turned out the cable i was using was not shielded! Immediately I found and tested another cable the sheilding light lit up. I then tried that cable the noise was gone. I am sure many will find this unit useful, but for this purpose also as there are many USB leads out there of the various size that this unit is there to test and many have no shielding. Working in a recording enviroment " Unwanted-Noise" is something you definitely do not need, even low frequency noise. Well designed a lot of thought has gone into this tester, It looks an awesome bit of kit and does the job as intended. Just take care connecting leads to it as not sure how strong the soldered points are to the board, especially if you have a box of leads to test. When inserting or removing keep the socket on the board your plugging or unplugging to between thumb and finger, just to give more support. Overtime these soldered joins might loosen, so USE WITH CARE. It isn't the invention of the "Wheel" but its certainly very close, should be certified with an award for Ingenuity, Design, A product you are at a great disadvantage not having.

Surprisingly useful and practical - saves lots of time and frustration with random USBs
As many people, I have lots of various USB cables at home of different origin, quality, type, speed rating and plug geometry. Oftentimes, it is frustrating to figure out why a particular cable does not work as expected - is it because of problem with the device I am plugging it in, because it is charge only, maybe it is USB 2.0 while the device requires 3.1 or just faulty. This nifty self-contained gizmo removes the guesswork - it quickly tests cable (and has connectivity for seemingly every conceivable USB plug variation), displays it compliance, maximum rating and status of actual individual data and power lines. So you have all the information at a glance. Very illuminating, fast and convenient. And the fact that it uses own onboard battery and hence requires no external power source makes it doubly convenient.

Cheap, cheerful and very good for testing cables.....
Hi Please see my photos that accompany this review, they can be informative. The second one in particular shows what appears to be a light brown piece of card. Well that turns out to be the clear acrylic cover with a peelable brown protector that you need to remove..! For the cost the testing unit seems to be very well made and comes with the stand and cover, see photos. In my opinion it is worth paying a little more for those. The board itself has enough printed information on it to be useful. The detailed two sided manual is very well written, one side information about the board and how to power it up etc. The other side about the pin outs for each of the connections, well the LED lights. I have included a photo showing a USB 3 based cable connected and the corresponding lights that the board displays. I am still learning as to the boards full capability, but that can be understood in time. My only very slight concern is the need to be a little cautious when plugging and unplugging your leads. Perhaps a touch of hot melt glue to hold them in place might be useful, so far they seem fine. Overall a very useful board and a very good price. I very much recommend this USB cable tester. I do hope that this review has been useful for you.

Brilliant USB cable tester
This tester is perfect for the job and provides testing capability for all the basic features of USB cables. End plug intelligence and electronics is not detected and tested, but for my purposes this was all I needed. A better set of instructions and introduction to the USB specification (even if just a link to an appropriate web site) would have been good. Anyway it has been perfect for my use sorting out the various chargers, USB cables, phones etc., and quick charger standards to contend with. Sorting out compatible combinations of these is not easy. This tester together with the FNIRSI FNB58 USB Tester have been brilliant.
