Salomon Men's Cross Mid Gore-tex Hiking Boots

I bought these to hike the sand dunes near my house. Straight hiking boots are cumbersome and not to mention hot in the summer. I need at least a mid top to keep out the sugar sand. These shoes hit that sweet spot. They seem to breath while keeping out the sand. Solomons are typically narrow shoes. I have a wide foot. These work even with a winter sock, but my foot is hanging over the sole a little. It doesn’t seem to bother me since the overall performance is outstanding. Keeping out the sand and feeling like a shoe was the goal. Perfection there.

25,000 miles of hiking. I hike every week mostly short trails and save longer hikes for the weekend. I’m in PA which is a mix of mud loose gravel, hills rocks and so on and in hot humid summer temps. I am not small 6’ 220lbs. Shoes for me must perform. I was a Keen fan for a long time. That is over with my first pair of Salomon Cross Hike GTX.This shoe is amazing. I never doubt my traction now especially when it’s most challenging on steep lose terrain. At first I was skeptical. But running in it on trails hiking in it the shoe blows through everything and doesn’t mess up once. It is light weight unlike my Keens. Yet built so well no faulty seems or layer separation like on my keens. The deems on these Salomon shoes are so tight and so well built. The fast lacr system caps it off perfectly. At first I was skeptical now o don’t want it any other way.Top Of The line - yet reasonable in price given what fair to good hike shoes cost.Highly recommended

I put these boots through a lot of abuse. I did see where some people have had a separation issue where the sole meets the boot upper and took preemptive glue action before I wore them. Mine are not separating. One thing that I don’t understand is what your supposed to do with the excess laces when you use the speed lace system? Where do you put it? I tucked it everywhere to avoid walking on them but still don’t get it. The speed laces are super sweet but again I’m missing something. The boots are light and seems like they will last awhile. I like them. Kind of expensive but you get what you pay for.

If your familiar with Solomon’s product line the Cross Hike fits like a high top version of the Speedcross. Pros are I use these for going to the range so there pretty smooth for standing around all day. These also have pretty aggressive lugs so they make short work of moving around on uneven surfaces. Light weight feel and no break in makes them far more comfortable than wearing boots. Waterproof is a nice touch for when the range is still drying out and the quick lace system is welcomed. Cons are they not well suited for wearing indoors like walking around the mall or immovable surface as you will certainly wear out the deep grips/lugs on the sole pretty quickly. The lugs are also pretty tall so I feel like I’m walking on high heels but just goes to the design of the shoe. The waterproof gore Tex also doesn’t breathe so not crazy about wearing this in hot weather. The fabric tear is real, hopefully will fix this in the next version. Not bad for a first attempt, looking for improvements next year. I only give out five stars if I would buy the product again, and the answer is yes, I would buy them again.

Got these for the holidays as a gift. The boots looked sharp and fit like a sock. Unfortunately the left boot had excess material between the laces to the outer toe which made a noise when I walked. It was too noticeable in the cabin and on the trail it was worse as you couldn’t not notice it. No amount of socks or tighten/loosen of the laces helped. I returned these and Backcountry gave me a refund. So 5 stars for service. Too many other sellers ignore you or don’t do the right thing. Backcountry has my business! On a side note there is an issue won’t this boot. As mentioned by other buyers, on Salomon’s site there are reviews and pictures about the cloth material ripping away from the seams. Too bad. Nice looking boot that fits well. So buyer beware.

Excellent fit & best boot I’ve ever had! Great in rain snow or just to wear with a pair of jeans.

I have salomon speedcross 4 and 5 and they are awesome, so I tried these for more serious hiking situations.I am disappointed. They fit loose, and the straps are super long and dangle dangerously long, I have yet to find the right spot to stuff them. Putting them inside rubs my ankle, and letting them dangle seems like a hazard when climbing on rocks.They are surprisingly waterproof; used for fishing in salt water no problem stepping in a tide poopl or getting washed by surf. but they are too loose and the straps are stupid.

Lightweight great grip but the width is very thin. I would definetly order the wide model even if you have smaller feet. I dont have big feet and I ordered 9.5 mens normal. The boot tight on sides. They are amazing and I do recommend them but order wide model to give you a chance to wear heavier socks for winter. Solomon shoes and boots are amazingly built no other issues to give.
