Takes up a bit more space thank other stands I've used but if you've got a minimalist setup where you only need a stand and a foldout keyboard with a touchpad then this should be more than enough.

For the purpose of portability there are a range of compromises. I'm very happy with the ones taken here.First, it is a simple design with one moving part. There's a question if the hinge will loosen over time. There seems to be no way to manually adjust it, other than pushing it back in if it happens to come out. What I'm concerned about is the friction point on the inside where we can't see. Time will tell and I'll update if that is the case.Second, the simple design allows it to be made with two strong and solid parts. Aluminum is a great choice between strength, weight, durability, and cost. It's light enough to be portable but has enough heft to do its job. It's non-magnetic like iron-based metals would be, so it won't get pulled inadvertently, as some accessories can contain strong magnets (e.g., magnetic charger cables).The design allows your phone/tablet/etc. lay at almost any angle desired between 0 and 90 degrees. The metal is augmented with soft plastic in strategic places to add friction and help prevent marring. This keeps the phone/tablet/etc. stable if laid directly on it. It is likely for this reason the stand is as high as it is; it must be of sufficient height for the phone to not fall back over it. For the largest phones and tablets it is about there. I'd like to see a shorter one for people with smaller phones.It is surprisingly stable. I can touch-operate my phone without it moving back. It's fine on a train and a plane. So it is indeed my portable and travel stand.Some measurements taken with a caliper. From the back to the ledge stop (phone thickness) is 19mm. If your object is thicker, it could simply sit on top of the stop, as it is low. The gap under the ledge is 25mm. Depending on your cable charger end, you may need to snake some out in front to give it sufficient bend (which is what I'm doing). When folded flat, it's 134mm x 50mm x 5mm. It's smaller than my phone so easily fits in the same (men's style sized pants) pocket behind it. I give it the non-friction side so I can slide my phone out.Some of the material is carved to provide additional functionality as opposed to being a plain slab. The bottle opener will likely have the most common use. The box opener is sufficiently sharp so has a plastic protector. The protector sits lower then the metal in the direction of removal so I hope that's sufficient to keep it from getting lost. I'll definitely be using this as I am currently using a sharpened key. There's an M4 sized hex wrench with a 7.4mm diameter. They had to choose one that would fit so this is a reasonable one for an international customer base, though less common in the U.S.. There's a 10cm metric ruler printed on one edge. Somewhat surprising they didn't put an imperial ruler; 4 inches would have been similarly useful. But again, the world is overwhelmingly metric while we could use the calculators on our phones to convert from it.
