I used this kit to replace a 3/16th brake line on a 1998 Jeep Rangler. I didn't need or expect a tubing cutter / rasp but it was a nice addition and worked fine. The double flare anvils were sturdy and bent the brake line steel well. I would recommend this kit and buy again.

Good bang for your buck if you’re just working on your own stuff. It’s cheaply priced comparatively and that’s great. But, it seems to be cheaply constructed. When you go to double flare you have to really watch it as the tool doesn’t seem to tighten evenly. The die also sticks in the line post compression and that is worrisome for the long run as you have to work it back and forth to remove. So if you’re doing brake lines every day maybe invest in something else. For working on your own stuff, worth it.

Worth the value. Make sure you know what type of flair you car is set up for. Double or single it does it.

I needed to flare one (1) 1/4" brake line at each end. The vise has an opening for that size, but it is so loose that it does not even grip the tube. The tube just slides out of the opening. The OD of the tube is .250", measured by a dial caliper, which is correct. The 1/4" opening in the vise, when closed and completely tightened, measures in at .290" on the same dial caliper. The opening is .040" too large! Each of the other sizes in the vise have the same problem! I have a flaring tool that makes single flares, so it cannot be used for doing brake lines, that has an opening for 1/4" tubing, that measures in at .210", or .040" smaller, so that the serrations in the opening will be able to grab and hold a 1/4" OD tube.The tubing cutter wheel is loose on it's shaft, and wobbles when trying to cut tubing. This makes it impossible to cut the end of the tubing square. If you cannot cut the tubing square, you are not able to make a centered double flare causing sealing problems at the connection. Brake systems often see 1500 psi and need good accurate connections!If this is a production problem, then maybe another unit will be correct, but at this point, I will want to return the tool. Once bitten, twice shy!!!

Nice set but the smallest tubing fitting is not made the same as the others and does not flare correctly.
