Hi yes they are just under a centre metre I have a hamster in it.

Q: I'm thinking about purchasing this for my Syrian hamster. Where does the water bottle go

There are two holes, one on either side of the clear top part, where you can fit a water bottle held on with a suction cup mounting. We have a bottle on either side for my daughters hamster.

Q: Can someone please confirm the height of this cage for me? I am looking for a cage suitable for a Syrian hamster. This one or just the Duna Multy?

It's 36cm high. I bought one a couple of weeks ago for my Syrian and she loves it. It's high enough to fit her 28cm wheel in & plenty of other climbing things but also provides plenty of floor space. I was worried about it arriving broken after reading some reviews but mine was fine. I will be ordering another one as I've just got a rescue Syrian so need one for him too. It is a very big cage but perfect for a Syrian Hamster.

The plastic, in my experience, is very durable. Even with 3 cats around and a very nibbly dwarf hamster inside. It's thick, hard plastic - and on the bottom it's very textured so that even if they tried to chew through they'd likely be unable to grip the sides or bottom very well at all. My dwarf is an escape artist extraordinaire and nearly 18 months on he's never escaped or made any visible marks on the bottom of the enclosure.
