Overview:As described.Experience:Meets expectations. A good choice, does what it says, So why 4 stars? 5 stars I reserve for something that exceeds expectations, like sings and dances kind of thing. Not sure how an air vent would do that.... again it will not disappoint works flawlessly and at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend.

strong metal nice looking, easy to us!

First, the good: This is a quality vent cover, better than the plastic things you get in the Big Box stores. It's metal, so the louvres aren't going to break like the plastic ones do. (I've replaced the plastic ones for precisely that reason.) And this has a sturdy screen to keep wasps and other insects out. If you're installing this new--and you're going to cut a hole in the siding to fit it--then I highly recommend this.Now, if instead you're replacing one of those plastic ones: If the original is square, like mine was (see first picture), you need to think about how best to do this. You'll notice mine had old caulking around it--and the white calk had turned ugly black in just a year. I either needed to cover that, or scrape it off (and scraping proved difficult). Moreover, the hole through the siding was sized for the large square cover, and even if I dealt with the calk, this new cover would not cover the corners of that hole.Fortunately, I happened to have a ceiling medallion. These are plastic plates with a hole in the center, intended for exactly the analogous problem when installing ceiling lights (i.e. where the hole in the ceiling won't be covered up by the new light fixture). And the hole in the center of my medallion exactly fit the pipe coming out from the back of this vent cover. The result is in my third picture--the hole is covered, as well as all the ugly calk. (I did have to use longer screws than the provided ones, which were also larger diameter, so I drilled the two holes in the cover a bit larger.)BTW, the calk serves an essential purpose: to keep water out of the house. But this time I've put the calk on the *back* of the medallion, so it doesn't show when it gets ugly. And I can remove this vent cover easily when I need to clean the duct (it's the dryer duct, you'll probably never have to clean a bathroom vent duct).Sizing: I have the 4" model, which fits inside a 4" vent duct (not outside: there are prongs on the outside of this vent cover's pipe that are intended to engage the inside of the vent duct).

This vent cover is well made of rather sturdy material. It is well finished as well with a quality paint finish. It will serve well as an external vent for a portable air condition. It earns a 5 star rating for its quality construction.

This is much better than the plastic ones you typically see. Very durable and not flimsy at all. Great value for the price! Overall great product!

Says 3", but is 2-1/2". Will not fit over 3" Schedule 40 pipe.
