A very sensibly-designed incinerator

Bought this incinerator to dispose of a large buddleia bush with thick stalks, all sadly, destroyed by the recent Storm Eunice. The incinerator coped with the task with ease.Assembly was very easy. Some people have mentioned the screw holes are misaligned, but I didn't find this was massively so. The trick is not to start tightening screws and nuts at each stage until you have fixed them loosely through each of the holes. Only then, tighten them fully. Easy. The only downside, in my case, was that there was a shortage of three nuts, but a rummage through a 100-year-old hoard of screws, nuts, and bolts soon found suitable replacements. Other users have had similar shortages. Be prepared for that eventuality, just in case. Not the end of the world. You do need to make sure you assemble this with ALL of the number of screws and nuts required, as the side panels warp a lot with the intense heat.A little tip about something I found useful: I placed the incinerator feet on four square concrete slabs, to raise it a bit further off the lawn below. Additionally, to support the square sheet of galvanised steel that is the base of the interior part of the incinerator, I chocked it up with two more slabs piled atop each other, to stop the metal flexing too much. You could use anything similar made of non-inflammable material, even old bean cans, but do make sure everything's stable, in case of accident and/or injury. If kept in dry conditions after a burning session, this little baby should last for donkey's years. Even if the side panels give up the ghost and start to fall apart, there's nothing to stop a user making some new ones out of aluminium sheeting of reasonable thickness.A brilliant design, so sensible, and worth every penny. We are not serial-burners, but needed this essentially for the one task. The incinerator remains for other, similar tasks, should it ever be necessary.Well done, Kingfisher! Top marks!P.S. IMPORTANT NOTE OF SAFETY! I wish to add that on my second use of this incinerator, the supportive concrete slab in contact with the red-hot base-plate of the incinerator decided to explode dangerously with immense force, so if you ever do prop up the base of your own incinerator, DON'T use conventional concrete slabs! I would think proper firebricks would be OK, but perhaps multiple emptied metal food cans would do the trick, or one of those large METAL biscuit tins that normally appear around Christmas time. I would think it best to invert such cans or tins, to provide minimal contact with the base slabs of concrete, in order to lessen the area of hot metal touching them. JUST BE CAREFUL!

Works well but put aside time to assemble.

Needed a larger incinerator as we had a lot of offcuts to burn. Took a while to put together, as others have noted. However, it does exactly what we want it to do. It is a little flimsy so we don't know how long it will survive.

it is as sold

very dissapointed very thin and wont last any longer than the dust bin which is larger and much cheaper

Works well

I have bought this item three times over the years as it works very well BUT.........It is a devil to assemble despite the instruction for assembly sheet! It took my husband who is very good at DIY normally THREE attempts to put it together as the holes don't match up and the screws are so small he had a job to grab them as his fingers are quite large (builders hands)!! In the end he made a few of his own adjustments and it is now assembled. Needs looking at by the manufacturer!

It’s ok

A little bit small , but burns quick and more room

Small and Thin Materials

Much smaller than expected and doesn’t seem like it will last very long as the material is very flimsy and thin. After one use it’s already starting to perish. Poor value for the high price, expected a big sturdy item.

Would buy again.

With a bit more help from the manufacturer this review could have been 5 Star. Kit arrives well packed and comprises 4 corner legs, 4 sides, a base and enough nuts and bolts to fix together, complete with very basic assembly instructions. It is not made clear on the instructions, but each side has a specific top and bottom edge so it is important to make sure you have these in the correct orientation when fitting together. The instructions say there are 20 nuts and 20 bolts included to complete the assembly. In actual fact there were 38 of each with my kit which is just as well because you actually need 36 of each to do the job. It puzzles me how they could have got these numbers wrong on the instruction sheet!!Anyway, despite these comments, assembly was quite straightforward and once together the unit is pretty rigid. Capacity at 98 litres is just a little larger than the more common 'dustbin shaped' incinerators which quote a nominal capacity of 90 litres. I intend using this to burn my garden leaves/prunings etc and feel that having air holes up the sides will help burning efficiency. I will update this review after it has been used for a while. One final comment. The gauge of the metal is quite light so I do not anticipate the incinerator will last for more than 1 year, Time will tell. The following comments added nearly 3 years after purchase. My expectations of a short life have proved unfounded. The incinerator has stood out in all weathers for nearly 3 years and is still going strong. The only protection has been a wooden lid to keep rainwater out of the bottom tray when not in use for burning garden waste. Would certainly buy again.

Could do with sturdier legs

I like the square design of this incinerator (this is the second one we have bought) the only down fall is the legs which are just extensions to the corner brackets. They will buckle if you are not careful. But overall a good buy.
