Great book, should be required reading for anyone in the utility industry
Great book, very readable. I made it required reading for students in my class on energy and climate change. Discusses the history and structure of the utility industry, the smart grid, deregulation, electricity markets, need for new transmission and many other pertinent topics.

An excellent overview
For energy policy wonks, this is an excellent overview. It has breadth and depth. Two aspects stand out: His dissection of the business model of utilities, and his detachment. I mean that in a good way. This is neither a polemic nor fluff, but a reasoned, knowledgeable analysis.

way too detailed
boring, contained way too narrow and detailed descriptions of all aspects of the power industry. Incredibly difficult to read and uninspirung
