The quality of the product is very good, they are sturdy, very well made, you can certainly see the attention to detail in the manufacturing process. I have already used it sharpening a new machete I recently purchased that arrived with a dull edge. Within minutes you could see how well this file made quick work of the dull edge of the machete. I have own and used other files of different brands and provenance but cannot compare with these Helko files. Outstanding product. Highly recommended. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quality *by on Reviewed in the United States 11 September 2025* Prompt shipping. Items are exactly as described and immediately went to work upon arrival. Performed flawlessly and had my hatchet back to razor sharp in no time. Field sized version will be a constant in my outdoor pack setup. Quality tools that will last generations. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lives up to the German reputation. *by on Reviewed in the United States 4 July 2023* When I needed a file to sharpen my lawnmower blade I Googled, "German made steel file for lawnmower blade sharpening" and these files were among the search results. I tried out the smaller one today on an electric lawnmower blade with good results. The file cut easily into the metal and sharpened the blade within about 15 minutes. These files are very fine and leave a nice finish on steel. To make them last longer and to keep them from getting all "gummed up" with steel particles I applied a good coating of common sidewalk chalk to the cutting surfaces of the files. It keeps the steel particles from fusing to the file and makes it very easy to clean off those particles with a file card. Once in a while you actually GET what you PAY FOR. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.ie/products/546043810-1844-helko-werk-germany-dual-sided-axe-sharpening-compact-heavy](https://www.desertcart.ie/products/546043810-1844-helko-werk-germany-dual-sided-axe-sharpening-compact-heavy) --- *Product available on Desertcart Ireland* *Store origin: IE* *Last updated: 2026-10-27*
