We can take action and challenge the Status Quo
"Design Social Change" by Lesley-Ann Noel is very informative and easy to read and follow. The layout is user-friendly, and the artwork is just awesome. Artist Che Lovelace is to be complimented for his paintings, which enhance the enjoyment of the book.We are reminded that we are all empowered to challenge the status quo towards solutions for addressing issues affecting us. Don't wait for the government or the authorities to change and improve our communities. Yes, we can! I endorse the book as a must-purchase and must-read for appropriate action to address inequalities in your community.

Finding the joy in social justice work
Design Social Change is a gem. It offers practical, positive-oriented strategies and simple tools that designers and non-designers can use to make our everyday worlds more just and equitable. The accessible prose in this beautiful book offers an aesthetic narrative for understanding the dynamics underlying social stratification and individual oppression in our modern lives.Going beyond the visible structure of socio-economic, racial, ethnic, and gendered hierarchy, Dr. Noel describes the implicit behaviors that sustain social injustice at the interpersonal level. She offers the vocabulary for such forces; “internalized oppression, interpersonal oppression, and structural oppression.” She follows with creative, reflective tools and strategies to help us see how these forces play out in our lives. She encourages a self-awareness that allows us to take steps in our everyday lives to do what’s equitable. Among several strategies, she addresses emotional intelligence and encourages the experience of joy, humor and play when working toward social equity. What are we personally able to do, and how do we see ourselves promoting social change in our everyday lives to make our communities and society healthier and more plentiful for all? Read this book, and you’ll see.
