Excellent strings, good sound, very reasonable price
I've had several jazz guitars over the years, Gibson, Heritage and two Cort Larry Corells, and on these I like to use flatwound strings. I usually used D'Addario Chromes but they have certainly gone up in price to nearly £20 and I thought I would try a lower-priced set. These have exceeded expectations in tone terms, and sound good all over the fingerboard. An area where flatwounds can sound dull is when playing the lower strings higher up the neck, around the 12th fret area, but these sound really good! Of course much depends on the guitar body, pickups and amp, but these strings leave nothing to be desired. As for their longevity, I cannot say as it's only been a week since they've been on the archtop, but flats tend to last a long time if you keep them clean, longer than roundwound for obvious physical reasons. So, I shall buy these again.

Excellent value
Good quality strings. Sound great (very little fret buzz). Not too dark. Really good value for money too.

Nice Price, Nice Tone, Nice People
I bought these to see what they were like. They seem like good strings for the price with a nice feel and quite a bright sound. It will be interesting to see how they last. Although I've played guitar for 40 years I still managed to snap one when fitting it - my fault rather than the string I would say - and the nice people at Advantage Musical Instruments who sell then via Amazon and eBay sent me a free replacement that arrived within 2 days. They even contacted me on a Sunday to inform me the replacement would be sent next day. The strings came with a nicely printed scale and chord chart which would be handy for beginners.

Buy cheap buy twice
These are half the price of D'Addrio Chromes which makes them very attractive but it doesn't make them a good deal. At least not for me. I have been using them on my Gibson for 6 weeka now and, although I bought two sets, I have just ordered some Chromes. I doubt the other set will ever be used. Problem number 1 was a string breakage while setting up the neck relief after first putting the strings on the guitar. The high E didn't like being tuned, de-tuned and re-tuned too often and the string snapped at the machine head. Fair enough perhaps but the company are Korean and my request for information about where I might get a replacement has gone unanswered. In the end I bought a single D'Addario 11 and got on with playing some music. Having played the strings for a number of weeks now my major gripes are (a) that the strings are not well balanced, the bottom E and A strings are too big sounding and I can't screw the pole-pieces any further into the pickup and (b) the bottom E and A seem to have developed buzzes as if the winding and the core are bouncing of each other. At first I thought the buzz was coming from the amp but then all my amps/cabs are doing it. In fact you can hear the buzz without the amp if you listen closely to the guitar. It's not fret rattle either - that's much louder - this sound is relatively quiet, there is no obvious reason for it and it happens along the length of the strings. The second through fourth strings are great - a nice warm but lively tone - but that's not enough is it? There's no point in writing to them, they don't reply to emails so I am writing this so you are fore-warned. If you have a guitar which is already set-up for 11-50 flatwound strings and the guitar has a relatively light bottom end, these strings may well work well for you. The bottom strings may not buzz if the body of the guitar doesn't encourage them.

Super Value for Money
Nased on another reveiw, I tried these 11-50's....on an ACOUSTIic with LR Baggs IBeam pup! They play smoothly and have a superb soft ring which comes through on the Baggs pup. As a luthier. I like to try unusual ideas. This one worked wonderfully for me. I liked the 11-50's and have 3 more sets, plus 4 sets of 12-52's. Pity the prices jumped from £9 to £12!!!! Update: 21/07/24 of the 2 guages the 11-50's work better ob the acoustics...the 12's feel heavy and dull. Still decent strings...will update when I restring my ES175 w/ P60's.

Really nice tone
I was trying to attain a deeper bass tone on my guitar and find these flat wound nylon covered jazz strings ideal. I play bass and only ever buy flat wound for my basses, they are a little more expensive but they do last longer and if you prefer deeper bass tones on either guitar or bass these are great. Well priced and great service they even included a free chord and guitar scale chart which is a nice wee personal touch 10 out of ten.
