Marvel Studios Character Encyclopedia Updated Edition

This volume updates and revises previously released editions to incorporate new characters and new info as the cinematic universe continues to explode. For fans and completists alike this is a must have!

Was a gift for my cousin for Christmas who is an avid comic book fan. Having this book was just the type of stuff he likes

This has a good amount of information to read on the characters, while also providing a lot of illustrations to engage younger readers.

First the bad news - this updated encyclopedia is not nearly as comprehensive as one would like. Several characters I wanted entries for are not mentioned at all. Rocket’s friends from Guardians 3 (Lylla, Floor, and Teefs) should have had a page. Matt Murdock (Daredevil) is completely missing, even though he’s been in several different MCU projects now. Tobey and Andrew’s versions of Spider-Man are completely omitted, as well as basically ALL of the heroes & villains from all 3 of the MCU Spider-Man films for some inexplicable reason. Also missing are Charles Xavier and Black Bolt from Doctor Strange 2, among others. Meanwhile, some characters who've barely had ANY screen time or lines at all, such as Bruce’s son Skaar from She-Hulk, somehow got an entire page of their own, when they should’ve just had a blurb at most. Now, having said all that, this is still a must-have book for any hardcore fan of the MCU, as this covers nearly every major character in every MCU movie from Iron Man 1 back in 2008, all the way to Guardians of the Galaxy 3 in 2023, as well as all the Disney+ shows released during that span (except for the Defenders shows that were just recently made canon again). It’s especially fun reading up on the newer content that was not in the previous version of this book released in 2019, from projects like Hawkeye and Quantumania. I just wish Marvel and DK would come together and release a full-fledged encyclopedia that covers EVERYTHING in the MCU - all characters, locations/planets, etc from every movie and show, including ones that are debated as being canon or not (Agents of Shield, Runaways, Cloak and Dagger, etc). THAT would be the ultimate tome to posses, and one I would pay good money for. But for now, this is the best we’re going to get.

this updated edition is great for those who did not buy the first book but this book needs more work hopefully some day we will get a definitive edition book that has every mcu character other then that this book is a great update overall over the first book.

Bought as gift for secret santa. Recipient was very happy with.

I gave this to a 9 year old boy and he loved it! He has an 8th grade reading level but I am also conservative on his reading material.
