Best AC on the market!
I’m honestly obsessed with this AC unit. I got the 10,000 BTU WhisperTech model, and it has completely exceeded my expectations. First off, the design is so sleek it actually looks nice in my apartment instead of being an eyesore like most window units. But the real standout feature is how unbelievably quiet it is. I kept checking to make sure it was actually on because it’s that silent, even on higher settings. Perfect for sleeping, working, or watching TV without any background noise. Installation was also way easier than I expected. Everything was straightforward, the instructions were clear, and I had it up and running in no time without any stress. It cools my space quickly and evenly, and I love that it feels powerful without being disruptive. You can tell a lot of thought went into both the performance and the design. If you’re on the fence just get it. It’s 100% worth it!!!

Great and quiet a/c unit!!
1st bought the 8,000 BTU whisper tech for our bedroom last summer and we love this a/c so much that hubby and I got the 10,000 BTU whisper tech version for our living room! In comparison to the older a/c units we had in our apartment (3 a/c’s were graciously left behind when we bought our apartment), windmill whisper tech is very soft and quiet—even on the highest fan settings and on cool mode. I love being able to turn on both a/c’s remotely through their app a few hours before coming home and to enter into a significantly cooler apartment after a hot NYC summer day. I also truly enjoy the sleek design and the 45* upward fan that helps to make the room feel cooler faster rather than a standard a/c blasting just one area and that area being very cold. Installation is very intuitive and easy with all the tools you need to make it a breeze (including a nice pair of scissors for the sleek side panels)! Especially after setting up our first one, it takes about 20-30 minutes to set up and use right away—if you need to install a/c brackets, add some more time. If you able to splurge the extra money for the whisper tech a/c’s—especially if people are sleeping where this a/c will be—it is very worth it! I have observed that the set temperature may be slightly off from the actual output or readings in the room (ex: a/c temps are set to 68*, it says that the room temp is 74* but external temp reader reads the room at 76*). This is not a huge deal breaker for me as long as the apartment feels and is under 80* but it may be something to keep an eye on over time. Overall a very solid unit and looks sleek and works very well for me and my hubby’s needs. He is a light sleeper compared to me and is sound asleep while running this a/c!

Great a/c--Superb support
Our master bedroom is difficult to cool with our central a/c, even adjusting the dampers to prioritize the room. We had to supercool the entire house to get the temperature down to something my wife found acceptable. The 10,000 BTU unit we bought quickly cools the 360 sq feet room. It is quiet, though it has a deep vibration that I could not resolve. I accessed the unit from the outside and could dampened some of that by securing the outer case. I think I will try insert some more foam between the outer case and the unit when we remove the unit in the fall to see if I can reduce that. I love that the exterior fins are not exposed. My previous experience with window units is that the fins get damaged during handling. The design of this unit prevents that from happening. What is extraordinary is the customer support this company offers. My first contact with Windmill was around midnight on a Thursday--I had a pre-order question. I expected a reply in a couple of days--instead I got one in minutes! Unbelievable. After I received my unit, I had an installation question. I emailed them at 6:00PM on a Saturday and got an immediate helpful reply. I was impressed that Skye was in my time zone (Eastern) and was so responsive. I can't recall better and more responsive customer support than this. I like being able to control the unit from my phone or computer. The interface is great. I like seeing the power usage. I had intended to use a support bracket, but the "bar" under the unit did not easily allow that. It would take some improvising to use a support bracket, I believe. As it was, I needed to improvise on the installation because of our window/storm window configuration. No biggy, but it wasn't as straightforward as I hoped. I suppose this would have been the case with other window units in our case. All-in-all, I am more than pleased with this unit. The superb customer support should earn some bonus stars. This is the best $500 purchase I have made in a long time. I recommend the Windmill window a/c without hesitation.

Buyer beware - Windmill's warranty has some pretty sketchy FINE PRINT
The product is modern, very quiet and looks great YET about 4-5 weeks into its "life" it has TWICE unexpectedly made a LOUD clunk, shut down and restarted. I am not an expert on AC units but I would guess this a sign of a defect in either the compressor or invertor. To be clear, this is twice in perhaps a 8-16 hour span of its operation. After providing Windmill with all of the necessary documentation and description of the problem, Windmill has notified me they are a small company and they can NOT honor their warranty unless I can provide VIDEO documentation of the problem. This would make sense if a unit began squealing, spewing out smoke, making continuous loud rattling sounds but WHO is going to sit next to an AC for hours or tens of hours waiting to capture an obvious mechanical flaw on video? Now the weather here in the Northeast has turned to Autumn, the only option I have is to take the unit out of the window, store it for the winter and reinstall it in the Spring ... hoping the defect eventually becomes predictable and commonplace enough to video it. To be clear, Windmill is NOT doubting nor disputing my claim but rather standing behind their policy that they cannot and will not provide warranty service without VIDEO evidence. Therefore my recommendation is to buy one of their 10,000 BTU units if and only if you want a quiet and efficient AC which may or may not develop a mechanical defect within a few weeks ... which Windmill will refuse to service under warranty. I own TWO of their units, have experienced a problem with one of them (in less than two months of intermittent use) and simply don't have the funds to play Russian Roulette with my next AC purchase. Perhaps something positive can be said about the huge appliance manufacturers who WILL stand behind their product. Something to think about: Would you buy a new car from a manufacturer who - when you report the car unexpectedly "loses its steering" every 400 miles or so told you they would honor their warranty if and only if you provided video evidence of this occurring??? If you think this example is extreme ... are you confident my Windmill AC will not create an electrical fire which burns my house? MY suggestion: If you are buying a Windmill AC unit, first compare the model number and serial number to see if either closely resembles mine and think twice about whether you want to spend your money for a product with a VERY seller-biased warranty

Nice Design
Purchased this after seeing an ad on Instagram. The design is very well thought out compared to traditional window AC units. It's much quieter than other similar units, which was the primary reason for purchasing. The windmill app is easy to set up and use. Offers good cooling at a reasonable price. I really like the vented enclosure that surrounds the unit. Makes it easy to lift and move without the risk of putting your finger through the fins. My only complaint is that when in use it will randomly ramp up for a short period of time, which increases the noise.

Seems good to me!
It is a very neat and sleek designed window unit with a very quiet sound as it runs. Quickly cools down a room/house without feeling like it is freezing you out. The app increases the functionality 10 fold with the options of controlling the temp, fan, and mode when needed or wanted, or the automations, which there are multiple of, ranging from at a certain time; depending where the sun is from sunrise to sunset; give it a range to operate in; and can even send you, or whoever, an email or notification based criteria that you can set. It seems to be very robust, and i am content with how much it costs due to its functionality and performance!

Makes a very disruptive noise!
I had high hopes for this as it came recommended but it has this low deep rumble that is very disruptive, like car windows slightly opened as you drive fast. I’ve only had it a few weeks and it’s very noisy in an odd and uncomfortable way. I’ve throw the box out as well, so looks like I’m just stuck with it.
