The Complete Poppy War Trilogy: The Poppy War, The Dragon Republic, The Burning God

The Poppy War Trilogy was an amazing series. It captured my attention from the first page. The complexities and torment of the main character, Rin, always left me in suspense of what was going to happen next. The writing was simple and easy to follow. Not allot of fluff. The violent topics that the author touched on, combined with the strange magic kept me engaged throughout. I though the ending was a bit forced but that seems common sometimes. Overall this was a favorite series which i enjoyed very much!

*Note: I read the series as well as listened to the audiobooks.I've encountered this series several times over the past few years without giving it much thought. However, something recently compelled me to dive in, and I'm incredibly glad I did. Kuang delivers a diverse cast of characters that are both endearing and detestable, alongside significant character development throughout the series.While some may argue that the content is unsuitable for younger readers, I respectfully disagree. From personal experience, I know that children often witness the darker aspects of human behavior without a safe way to process their experiences and emotions. As a child, I believe these books would have provided the hope and understanding I desperately needed to believe one could change their circumstances.Experiencing the 'book blues' after finishing a series is rare for me, but I now find myself feeling a sense of loneliness. To parents and guardians, I advise using common sense. Although the books tackle challenging truths about humanity, they also highlight its strengths. My children, aged 14 and 10, listened to much of the audiobooks during our travels. They had questions about some events they overheard, which led to meaningful discussions. Usually, they tease me for constantly listening to audiobooks, but this series captivated them as much as it did me. Ramsa is our most cherished character.

I am a series book gal and I will say, this book series was a lot for me. I am a quick reader and have a hard time putting books down. I struggled getting through the first book. I am not sure if it is because I came off of a different series, of the same genre, and the chapters were so much longer than the other series I was reading, but I definitely struggled a little bit. HOWEVER, I loved these books. I think they were extremely well written, the ONLY thing I would have liked more was shorter chapters just because there is so much information. If you like fantasy reads, you should definitely read this series (even if you have to take your time with it)!

Please for the love of childhood innocence do not let a 12 year old read these!! Hell, I think 18 might be a more appropriate age. There is graphic descriptions of war and inhumane treatment. Very engrossing series and very well built world….just not for a 12 year old. Amazon is out here trying to scar children for life do not listen to that age warning please.

these books came in perfect condition and were packaged extremely well. i received the white covers as advertised. i was nervous ordering this due to the negative reviews, but it seems that they have corrected some of the previous issues? really good deal for the series.

I love these books and this series as a whole, however when they arrived to me the books were damaged. The covers and several pages in each book were bent. They also were not packed with any protective padding so I assume that’s how they got damaged. I recommend you read these books but please consider a different retailer when purchasing them.
