Technics are the BEST!!
There are no better LEGO sets than these Technics. They are a little harder to put together but totally worth it! My son is 7-1/2, so on the low end of the 7-14 age range but he still put it all together by himself. He loves the pull-back feature. These Technic LEGO sets are more durable than other sets which is a plus bc my son is really rough with them. He loves dropping them from counter height to show everyone how tough they are. When dropped on the wheels they don’t shatter and come apart. He has broken an axle once and we found you can buy those separately if needed. He has almost all the under $20 kits. Planning to buy them again to make the combination builds. Those are super cool looking!!

This is such a robust and fun toy to build & play!
This is a really robust fun toy! I (as well as my 5 y.o. boy) really liked LEGO Technic Stunt Bike (42058) because that doesn't break when kids play tough unlike regular lego! So I bought both Whack (42072) & Bash (42073) for my son & his friend. It's a bit challenging to 5 Y.O., but not overwhelming. I think it's just right amount to stimulate & develop cognitive & fine motor skills for 5~8 y.o. kids. Compared to Technic Stunt Bike, this pair run farther (less resistance after the wind-up motor runs out of propulsion), although the initial acceleration is slower. Also boys love these bad-ass racers more because they have something that breaks (sort of) when crash. You know... boys smile when something runs fast but they cracks when something breaks ;) I think it's a clever idea to include a built-in controlled-breaking mechanism.

My son loves it
It is a little difficult for a 5-year old to build it alone, so I had to guide him through here and there. But we had fun putting it togetherHe has had a lot of fun with the toy. Crashed the car intentionally a lot and it is still holding. solid build just as other lego product as always.

A Lego that you’re kids can build AND play with!
I wanted to take a quick minute to share my review of Lego technics! My kiddos are huge Lego fans, but unfortunately, large Lego creations are not entirely suited for multiple moves or constant traveling. However, we recently purchased a few of these for our own children, as well as for gifts, and. They are AWESOME! After building his race car, my third grader was actually able to RACE his car (and jump it off of the dining room table 😳), and it has remained intact. In our house, that’s a BIG deal ❤️.

pull car make smash in wall, engine much pop
this construction trifle was purchased in conjunction with with its sister unit the BASH! (42073) and two are delightfully complementary. construction is simple and yet yields a sufficiently durable roadster to withstand youthful playful abuse. delighted squeals can be heard when the two meet headlong and throw their respective engines off their mounts. they are of course made for each other, just like we were. watching them play with the cars makes me think of when she and I were still together before crashing headlong into our respective fates equally tearing us apart. it's easy to think it could have been different, but we were following the instructions fate had for us.

Great for a destructive child!
My son LOVES this car. He is 8, so he loves building things, but he is 8, so he also loves destroying things. This is the perfect toy! He built it, and can run it into walls or off tables over and over again, and it has one simple piece that flies off after a collision, and then it is super easy to put it back on! Its perfect because only the piece that is designed to come off, actually comes off, and you don't have re reassemble every two minutes!

Cool car with nice pull-back motor feature
This was the first Technic set that I gave to my 5 year old. He is younger than the recommended age, but with some help he built it mostly by himself. I loved watching his face when he discovered the pull-back motor. Now we have lots of fun zooming it down the hall and seeing if we can get the “motor” to pop off. That is another fun feature that if the front of the car runs into something it will pop off a small assembly that looks like the car’s engine. Overall I think it was a good purchase.
