As expected, the product arrived on time, in great condition and well packaged. I used it today for the first time on three Stanley chisels from one of the big box stores. They have never been sharpened before so this was a bit of a challenge with sap, dirt and chips out of the cutting edge on each of the 1/2', 3/4', 1' blades. I did 40 passes on 1/2 the stone due to the projection of the blade from the holder, then rotated the stone and did another 40 passes. I hope this produces even wear on the diamond surface. Repeated this three times on each of the surfaces and ended with a gleaming, even, sharp, clean edge. Used them chisel out a small surface for a utility hinge on a simple home made box. Lovely outcome. I purchased this specific item because of a review of a different guide by another writer who noticed that the his roller did not spin and developed a flat spot on first use. this holder appears to have different type of bearing. it rotates smoothly and cleans easily. It may not be stainless steel and it may not have all the other bells and whistles. I am a home hobbyist, DIY user. My needs are quite different from a professional user. Yes I would by again.

This actually works relatively well. It does require quite a bit of effort, since to get a new edge on a rough chisel requires several hundred passes. Also, it doesn't provide a razor sharp edge, but an edge that is certainly an improvement on a dull blade.

Wide roller an asset when honing narrow blades. Very stable. You have to initially get through the substrate that holds the "diamond" abrasive. For that I'd suggest using an old blade laid flat and scrubbed across surface. Once through, a little honing oil and PATIENCE. But wow, does it do a good job. I was skeptical, not now though, very sharp planer blade in a few strokes. Yeah, I'm going to like this one.

Purchased to aid in sharpening hand plane irons, and wood chisels. I swap between hand sharpening and using a fixture to keep the bevels in line. What you need to know, the fixture seems built well enough for the price point. It uses the shank of the chisel to set the horizontal plane. Meaning, if your chisels are not square or flat down the shank it will sharpen an odd angle on the tip. This may or may not be a problem for your application. Used carefully, and on good chisels and plane irons it will work fine. Cant speak to the diamond stone, havent used that much. I have my own stones.

The basic function of the sharpener works well, and I have cleaned up some old construction chisels that are close to razor sharp. That said there is a fundamental design flaw that will often leave chisel edges angled when sharpened as the angle guide uses the backside of the chisel to create the datum for the chisel edge. I have a nice set of Marples chisels that I sharpened, and when I noticed the angle on the finished edge, I measured the thickness of the chisel with a caliper from left to right across the backside that rests against the angle guide, and the thickness varies up to 0.25mm. As the chisel rests on the angle guide on this backside surface, it will inevitably result in angling the sharpened surface. The only way to adjust for this is to manually shim the backside of the chisel resting against the angle guide to make sure the sharpened edge is laying absolutely flat against the stone. Not an easy task! Otherwise this kit works fine and will deliver a sharpened edge. Note that I also finish the edges on a 3000 and then 8000 grit stone.

I have no past experience with working with these diamond sharpeners. This was easy to use and the roller worked very nice to sharpen the end of chisel. It appears to be good quality to me and I thought the price was okay. The base did slide on me so I had to hold the base. It was nice to be able to flip the diamond bar over for the 2 different grits. I may need more grits when I know how to sharpen better. This should last a long time unless I am not using it properly.

I like the self centering jig being made of aluminum but it lacks refinement in its tolerances. The jaws are loose within their track. This leads the chisel, in this case, not being square to the jig itself. The kit I bought came with a 400/1000 grit "diamond" stone. The quality of this stone is sub-par at best. By the time I sharpened 6 chisels the stone had lost its ability to effectively sharpen. Here's the kicker, the stone is warped. After transitioning from 400 to 1000 you can see in the photo, after using marking dye, the 1000 grit side is bowed, raised in the center. I used a straight edge and I could rock it side to side a 1/32". I would recommend just buying the jig and buy a set of better stones. Even then you'll have to double check for square.

El rodillo montado en rodamientos es grande dándole buena estabilidad y gira suavemente. Sin duda me ha sido muy util en mi taller. Por supuesto hay otros de mejor calidad. Pero con este y por su precio obtengo muy buenos resultados

I have a fair few chisels which over time I've just thrown in a tool bag and the blades have dulled to make them pretty much useless. I bought this as I could do with sharpening up some blades instead of buying new chisels. I wasn't expecting to be able to get them super sharp considering the state of them It took a long time but the results are great. I would recommend using a bench grinder to get any chips out of the edge but this does a good job putting a nice cutting edge back on my chisels. The guide is easy to use and super sturdy too. The stone seems to take material off quite well although I would like to see a higher grit included in addition to 400 and 1000 as I think I could easily get a mirrored edge with a bit of elbow grease. You can see the state of the chisel I used in the picture and I think the edge has come up pretty well. You can see score marks from the stone so I will look for a new stone with a smoother finish to get my blades as sharp as possible. Overall, a great investment to keep chisels and blades sharp

Great idea but nowhere as good as traditional oil stone. The guide for mounting chisel is Great though.
