6 year old enjoyed it
I'm not sure of the exact storyline but my 6 year old has really enjoyed reading this book and has asked me if there are others in the series. She was particularly taken with the fact that the edge of each page is red to fit in with the ladybird theme 🐞

As good as Amelia Fang and Rainbow Grey
My child really enjoyed this new book, presumably the start of a new series, from the author of Amelia Fang and Rainbow Grey. Having loved those books, the conclusion was that this one is just as good!

Cute story of friendship
A cute story that follows Marnie Midnight as she starts at minibeast academy. We follow her as she makes some new friends and enemies, learns more about her hero Lunora Wingheart and finds out a few truths along the way. This is a fun story for 7+ about friendship and standing up for what you believe in.

Quick Reviews!
My girls have a couple of the Amelia Fang books and enjoyed them when they were younger. They've aged out of the audience for that series, and this new Marnie Midnight series caters towards that same early independent reading audience. I picked this book up for my son who is too young to read it himself, but enjoys all things related to magic, adventures, creepy crawlies, and fantasy, and he should like reading this when he's older. If you're familiar with Amelia Fang, then a quick look at the cover art of Marnie Midnight will show some similarities - the dark blue hues, the font, and the striking lead character. Character and story-wise we're in familiar territory too, with a young female character just starting in a new world of exploration and experience. Here, Marnie (a mix between moth and human girl) is a courageous, curious creature eager to begin meeting new people and learning new things at school. As with real life, sometimes our hopes and dreams face trials and problems - she finds out that not everyone is as fun loving and curious about certain topics as she is, but she won't let that stand in her way.The book is written in that familiar breezy manner, peppered with friendly cute characters, jokes, and amusing situations, and the artwork breaks out lumps of text and further enhances the enchanting world. I've been reading parts of this to my son before bed - we typically only get a few pages done at a time before he gets distracted or tired, but it's enough for him to cuddle up and hear what happens next.

Lovely story, age 8 or a young 9 probably the cut off
My eldest is a bit of a bookworm and so we set about reviewing this together. It's a new series about a moth's adventures, in this case, starting school and ongoing fascination with the moon.Have to say I wasn't overly familiar with Laura Anderson before hand so thought we'd give her a try. It's a lovely mix of illustrations and a fun story to blast through given the short chapters. If your child is at the higher end of this age range then they'll likely get through it with minimal parental support. It's always a bit of a battle when your child is at a crossover age, and she's nearing her tenth birthday. Some of the themes and character development are geared at a younger age - I might have another run through with my son as he's at the other end of the recommended age bracket. The only other thing I'd add is that depending on your child's school setup, some of the terminology ('forms tutors', 'academies') might need a little explaining - we're a bog-standard primary > secondary set up in my area.

Ordered this for my 7 year old daughter, and she enjoyed reading it. The book is engaging, entertaining and at some point educational, as contains unknown words. Worth trying.
