Great, but not a easy DIY
This is exactly what I need for my X3 2013. The passenger side mirror was floppy and this was due to the hinge (this product) broken at some point. Dismantling and re assembly is not a issue with loads of video on the net how to do it. However to get this hinge compressed is a absolutely pain in the back. You need a long threaded bar with washers and nuts at each end. To get the nut on the bottom side of the threaded bar is a pain and requires loads of patience, before you start compression of the spring make sure the hinge (this product) is facing with the small hole towards yourself (very importantfor later).Once you have the nuts in place, make sure the both parts of the mirror assemblies lined up like a side mirror should be on a car. Now start to tighten the top nut till the spring is compressed (70%). Next step is to use a small flat screwdriver and place it on the edge of that hole facing you and use a hammer to smack/tap it moderately to turn the hinge anti clockwise (about 1cm) till it wont move any more (dont force it). That should then turn the hinge enough to lock the hinge in place when you de compress the spring. It's a 2 man job. Get prepared to get your hands dirty and test your patience. Good luck.
