Cuba travel guide

Would have been lost in Cuba without this guide
Cuba is still a social society, where you need to know someone to know someone to get anything done or figure anything out. Wifi spots are few and can be far between depending on where you are in the country. Based on who is in favor, restaurants are able to secure very different levels of qualities and amounts of ingredients. Its sad, but with the help of this guide we were able to locate the reliably killer Cuban restaurants in the various locations we visited. Cuban food can be amazing if the chefs have the supplies (most of the spots in this guide), and pretty disappointing if they don't (obviously). Yea that takes some of the spontaneity out of the adventure, but after some blah meals, I was ready to give that up.

If you go to Cuba - bring this book with you
Went to Cuba recently for a week.Since wifi was not readily available in the places I went - this book was my main source of information. Two of the restaurants - The Pink Cow in Veradero and O'Reilly 304 in Havana - that got high marks in the book - were fantastic!

Very helpful guide book
We used this guide for our January 2018 trip. Although we were on a guided tour, The Lonely Planet Cuba provided valuable information that helped us prepare for your trip. The book also provided important supplemental information that was not provided to us by our guide.

Badly Organized
I have used a dozen or so other Lonely Planet guides with great success. This guide is badly organized. The numbers for locations on the Havana maps are difficult to use because the corresponding numbers in the text are buried or missing altogether.Worse, there are significant sights that are simply omitted from this guide with no explanation.I quit using this guide after 2 days on the ground in Havana.I then had to rely on my own legwork on the ground - it would have been helpful to have an accurate guide book.

Great Book for Visiting Cuba
First, we wanted to know what to expect before visiting Cuba. This book was great. Then, when we were IN Cuba, Wifi was spotty and this book was a great help in suggesting restaurants, places to see and explaining the context of what we were experiencing.

Love Lonely Planet guides but...
Although this book has everything you need to know, due to the fact that Cuba has a dual currency (Pesos for locals and Convertible Pesos for tourists) they can charge whatever they want. This means that the prices within the book are already out of date as they have almost doubled (which has made Cuba a very VERY expensive destination). Also all the attractions that the book mentioned (museums etc.) are mainly empty spaces with some pictures on the walls. So I am not sure why LP are trying to build hype for something basically non-existent.

Comprehensive, well written and easy to use
This book is absolutely fantastic. You could easily travel to Cuba with no prior research, and using only this book you would be fine. The guide is set out in a logical order and it is easy to find what you're looking for. The maps are especially useful as are the recommended Casas. The only fault is that a few of the phone numbers were incorrect and didnt work.Still a fantastic guide book which I used everyday on my trip

As ever Lonely Planet provides an extensive and easily digestible travel guide
As ever Lonely Planet provides an extensive and easily digestible travel guide. We did find that 1 restaurant had closed in Havana but other than that a traveler's essential

A must have for going to Cuba
I do not know what I would have done without this in Cuba. There is no Wifi there and this is great as a map, and for recommentations for accomodation, places to go and where to eat.
