Perfect solution if your setup prevents you from connecting to personal network printers.
These USB extenders work exactly as advertised. My printer is about 150 feet away from my desk, and my work laptop is locked down so it can no longer connect to any outside network, which meant I had to physically move my laptop next to the printer and connect a USB cable every time I needed something printed. To solve this, I ran Ethernet from my desk to the printer and used these Monoprice USB Extenders. They performed flawlessly when connected directly via Ethernet. I did hope to use my existing network switch, but unfortunately, the extenders didn’t work with that setup. However, I won’t deduct any points for that, as they have completely transformed my printing experience. Now I can print without having to move my laptop! Highly recommended!

Extend USB 2.0 50 feet
I initially bought this to run my HTC Vive VR Headset from my PC in the bedroom to my larger living room. The single USB 2.0 cable with a built in repeater I was using would cause tracking issues due to the signal dropping sometimes. This problem persisted whether I used a USB hub or connected the headset straight to the PC via the USB 2.0 cable. When I replaced it with this set and a CAT6 cable, the signal was consistent and USB based issues were resolved. Or so I had thought. After a few weeks I realized the camera on the Vive had stopped working (it is only occasionally useful, so I didn't realize it had stopped working). Tracking still wasn't an issue, just the camera. I have since replaced this extender with a USB 3.0 cable and the camera now responds and tracking is reliable. I don't believe the camera's loss of functionality was a fault of these extenders. The Vive is notoriously picky about USB ports and cables, and I believe the device simply needed the extra band-width of the USB 3.0 cable. I now use this extender set to run a USB 2.0 hub from my PC to my living room. It is working perfectly.

Sometimes its disconnected
I bought this product because I need to connect USB for a long distance. I'm using this with Ethernet Cat 6 and it seems to work well at first but every so often I got it disconnected and reconnected by itself. It's kind of annoying, but for my use case, I'm not using any fancy for competitive gaming, so it's okay. I already switched to active USB cable to replace this, but I'm still keeping this for a spare.

Great for my purpose.
I have a security camera system with a DVR in a closet on the far side of my house. It's approximately 40 ft and 3 walls from were I have my monitoring equipment. I want to use a wireless mouse to control the DVR. But no wireless mouse has the range to do it. I tried a USB extension cable and it didn't work at all. But with this product and 50' of ethernet cable it now works as though it were right in front of me. I couldn't be more pleased with this product. And it's simply plug and play.

Works as it should dong about 60 feet over Cat5e
Initially did not work. I had a cheap USB A to USB C connecting the far end. Changed the USB whip to a higher quality cable and connection established. Win10 Desktop to 5G internet enclosure - RM521F-GL modem module.

UPDATED: Works, but be prepared to spend extra for cable, otherwise doesn't work at all
2019-12-30: UPDATED I hit another wall. Per the post below, it kind of sort of works, but power isn't "sustained". The controller and others devices randomly power on/off based on the power draw. I've made every effort to make this product work as advertised and simply can't get it to work consistently. 2019-12-24: UPDATED OK, after posting a very negative review I decided to try and figure out this problem. MonoPrice is a reputable company and I was hard pressed to think they would sell such a blatantly bad product. So after considerable fiddling and much more tests I figured out how to get this to work using these connectors: You have to use super high quality Cat6 and in my case USB 3 for all cables and connectors. As I mentioned below, I have run a lot of lines and as such have multiple types of Cat5/e and Cat6 on hand. Multiple specs and such. Only one worked. The ONLY one that I found works is this: Cat6 Riser (CMR), 1000ft, Black, 23AWG 4 Pair Solid Bare Copper, 550MHz, ETL Listed, Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP), Bulk Ethernet Cable, trueCABLE https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C848GTK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If you don't get the 550MHz or better, Solid Pair, the power simply won't work. I've tested this to well over 50' and it works perfectly. The 500 MHz listed below does not work and will not power the controller or any USB powered peripheral. For example: I tried this cable: Monoprice Cat6 Ethernet Bulk Cable - Network Internet Cord - Solid, 500Mhz, UTP, CMR, Riser Rated, Pure Bare Copper Wire, 23AWG, 500ft, Blue https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016YS99X0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Almost identical spec and it doesn't work at ANY distance over 17'. I don't think the brand is necessarily the issue, but the first cable certainly can handle slightly higher frequencies than the second and somehow makes a difference. The point here is if you buy this product and want it to work, don't cheap out on the cable. 2019-12-23: I purchased this to get to about 30' from my basement to office 1 floor up. I have over 40 1GB runs in my house and I have all the equipment and know how to wire a cable. I ran this one, put on the jacks and ran some tests. This device simply doesn't work past the 16.5' baseline distance limit of USB for POWER. For data it works perfectly at 30', but for something that needs to be USB powered, it just doesn't transfer enough juice for the device to work properly. I ran several tests, the basic one was an xBox One S controller. Works great with power under 17', after that doesn't even power on. I also plugged in a USB powered external HDD just to see if power was getting to 30' and nothing, wouldn't power on at all. I then had a few other cables of smaller lengths and tested various distance and right around 17' the device would power on and anything past that nothing. I then tested each wire at 30' with a multi-meter and there is some very faint voltage and amps, but not nearly enough to power a controller and HDD or other peripherals. I noted from the comments and questions that some people managed to get this working at 100' and I'd be very curious how that occurred because my tests I can't get past 17'. If anyone has any further suggestions to get this working, I'd be interested, but otherwise I would not recommend this product and it appears to not do what it claims past the USB standard limits.

It works and it is cheap!
Great thing for a mouse to be connected to CCTV DVR remotely. Another good thing it does not need power supply. It does not matter whether it truly is USB 1.0 or 2.0. For keyboard or mouse it's perfect. One could spend over 100 on a print server extender which turned to be a wrong approach as it only works with PC and requires installing specialized driver. You can't install a driver on a closed system. Get this one instead. No driver needed.

Not universal
Mileage may vary - didn't work with certain peripherals, but worked with others.
