I need to grind down Vetmedin pills for my dog, and this works great. I do have to cut the pill in quarters first, which is a bit of extra work, but then the Pill Mill grinds 2 quarters down almost instantly, and with minimal effort. If you put a half-pill in without splitting it, it might not "catch" in the grinding mechanism. I could, if I chose to, grind dozens of (pre-cut) pills at once.

This product is very well made. The solid metal case if great, and durable. The adjustable granularity works well. One is able to crush pills down to a fine powder. It is easy to use, and easy to clean. I highly recommend this pill crusher. You won't be disappointed!

I have ground ALOT of pills in my lifetime. Eighteen plus years of experience as an ICU nurse/nurse practitioner followed by another eight years of daily pill grinding for a family member that requires their meds via a GJ tube. I Have used ALOT of different makes/models and styles of pill grinders as well: cheap & simple plastic “screw tops”; mortar & pestle; compression squeezer models (where pills are placed in a plastic baggie and then “squeezed” till crushed); even putting pills in a piece of folded paper, covering with a surgical towel and then beating the towel to death with a mallet, hammer or any other hard object available. (necessity is the mother of inventions they say). No matter what method one uses, the outcome desired is always the same: a fine ground powder with minimal chunks. My current pill crusher of choice for home use the past year has been the SILENT KNIGHT (a baggie & compression type device) which I was introduced to while working at UCLA Liver Transplant ICU. The SILENT KNIGHT is the mother lode of pill grinders: it is a work horse, it is effective, it is efficient and once you get your own little system going with it, there is NO PILL IT CANNOT CONQUER! It is extremely well made out of high quality steel and aluminum; with that being said, this high quality construction does come at a price: the SILENT KNIGHT is heavy and not as travel friendly as other pill crushers on the market. Because we encounter travel frequently including overseas travel, there was a real need for a lighter and easier to pack pill grinder. Therefore, the “Pill Mill” was purchased simply to be used as the “travel pill grinder”. It looked light and compact, easy to assemble/dissemble, clean, etc. The reviews looked promising....who knew? Maybe we would be pleasantly surprised and it would outperform the SILENT KNIGHT. Shipping was quick. Delivered as promised. Packaged well. Removed from box. Instructions included and were easy to understand. As other reviewers have said, the removable top lid is somewhat difficult to get on & off; it is quite a tight fit, but to me it is a hallmark of quality construction and not really a downside of the product itself-however, I could see that if someone had severe arthritis or limited dexterity, they may have difficulty getting the top on & off. The removable crank arm turns easily (turn clockwise to grind pills), but it has to be reattached every time you remove the lid, which requires you to thread it down onto the post on top of the lid of the grinder. Once again, someone that has limited dexterity or poor vision may have difficulty doing this as well. Where the “PILL MILL” really fell short for me was in its basic function: grinding. It performed as promised when grinding small pills that had no waxy or enteric coating on them. When I say small pills, I am describing pills no larger than the diameter of a pencil eraser. Pills that were larger than that or were oblong had to be cut in half or thirds. Also, the “PILL MILL” did not perform well when it had say, more than 3-4 smallish pills in the chamber at once. If more pills were placed in the grinder or large pills placed, the gears of the grinder would get jammed, requiring you to either a) rotate crank shaft counter clockwise while shaking “PILL MILL” to dislodge stuck pills or b) dissemble entire grinder and fish out the jammed pills one by one. Gave it several more attempts using different techniques, hoping to make the “PILL MILL” perform up to my expectations....but to no avail. In the end, the “PILL MILL” is being returned & I am thankful this company offers a 30 day return policy. BOTTOM LINE: SAVE YOUR MONEY! I would only recommend this item if you have a few pills to grind (that are very small & have no waxy coating on them), and also have a need to grind spices or MMJ. Otherwise, you are better off saving your cash and buying a $2.00 plastic “screw top” grinder that you can pick up at your local pharmacy. (Or go the pounding with the hammer route which is free) However, if you have multiple meds to take/give that requires them to be pulverized into a fine powder, check out the SILENT KNIGHT. (I swear I am not affiliated with the company in any way; I am just a loyal user of their product). Although not perfect, it still is the best crusher/grinder out on the market IMO. So much so, that we will still be lugging it in the carry on, as heavy as it may be, grinding and crushing pills as we travel the globe. Just a recap: “PILL MILL” Pros: -sleek design -lightweight; good for travel -works for small pills, small # pills, no coating -30 day return policy “PILL MILL” Cons: -removable lid hard to get on/off -removable crank handle may be hard to thread onto post for some people -can’t handle larger pills, large # of pills or pills with a coating -big pills need to be cut in half or thirds -crank seems to spin and spin when pills get stuck requiring counter clockwise rotation of crank and /or manual dissemble -DOES NOT PERFORM AS DESCRIBED!!!!

I was specifically looking to avoid plastic grinders, so when I came across this one—with its ability to handle multiple pills at once—I was immediately intrigued. I’ve recently started a new supplement routine for my guinea pigs, and the only way they'll take their vitamins is if they’re finely ground and mixed into baby carrot purée (they’re adorably picky!) When I first began using the grinder, I was pretty frustrated. It didn’t seem to catch the pills properly, and I found myself constantly shaking and tapping the device to reposition the supplement, then trying again—repeat, repeat. It took much longer than I expected, and I was disappointed. Fast forward a month: I opened a fresh bag of supplements, popped one into the grinder, and within 30 seconds it was reduced to a fine powder. I was stunned! That’s when I realized the previous batch must’ve absorbed moisture, making it harder for the grinder to do its job. With the new, dry supplements, I can grind 2 or 3 pills at once in no time. It’s made prepping their daily mix so much faster and easier. After about two months of use, I did notice that some powder tends to cling to the sides and settle into the crevices at the bottom. Tapping the grinder doesn’t dislodge it, but a silicone spatula helped. I’ll be checking the instructions to see if there’s a recommended cleaning routine. Overall, I’m really glad I found this grinder—it’s been a game-changer for my guinea pigs’ supplement prep.

I have bought 3 of these. the 1st one after using many times i washed it and i could never get the rust to stop, it was my fault, so I bought another one. After multiple uses, it didn't grind the pills as easy and i thought the blade must not be sharp anymore and bought a 3rd one, the one I am trying to use now. From the first day, it never was easy to turn. it sounded like metal on metal, I thought it would eventually work with use. but now I know I should have replaced it. It is so hard to grind up pills, I have a hard time no matter what I do. I wrote to the Pill Mill manufacture 3 weeks ago and to this date no response. they have no customer service. I am a 82-year-old widow, and because i can't swallow, i have to use a feeding tube for everything, and i take many prescriptions, Medicare won't pay for liquid pills, so I have to use pills that need to be crushed. I can't use the kind that is handheld crusher, my hands are Arthritic, and return to Amazon. I live in Big Bear CA, and there is no place up here to return, I would have to drive over an hour one way to find a place to return any item. Now what am I to do. buy one another one because the 3 one I bought is i defective. Maybe you can get Pill Mill to respond, if they even have a customer service dept, I sure couldn't. Linda Wright

Well pleased with it it does a good job I have to cut the pills for a small to get them but other than that it works great I had no problem with it

La verdad que hace su función muy bien, la utilizo para la suplementación de mi perra senior y he tenido otras marcas y otros tipos y esta es la que mejor se adecúa, es rápido y eficaz, si que es verdad que la diferencia de precios también se nota. Lo que hay que tener en cuenta es romper por la mitad la pastilla, eso si, pero una vez metes todas, las mueles y listo! es cómodo ya que toma 4-5 pastillas al día y aquí se muelen todas a la vez, se puede graduar el tamaño del grano/polvo por una ruedecita que tiene dentro. This does the job well and I would recommend it. Needs a 1 time adjustment of the wing nut to pull the ceramic crushing blades close but not touching. This will determine how fine the result will be. then drop in a pill and whizz the handle round several times. when there is no longer any resistance it is done. It is so easy to turn the handle it should be ok for people with hand or strength problems. Certainly easier than the plastic threaded presses that are common. For film coated tablets some film may stop on top of the crushing wheels and needs shaking out where you put the tablets in I shake it out after also to check the whole tablet has been crushed and none remains - if it does put in back in the crusher for more turns the result is a very fine powder almost like flour (dependent on how close you adjusted it) so this is great for peg feeding as it will suspend in water really well A few more minor points.... the handle is designed to be only used when crushing so you need a place to hang it so it doesn't get lost The chamber for collecting the pill powder is huge. It has a window up the side to see in. you would have to crush many many pills before the powder even reaches the bottom of the window.

Der Tablettenmörser von Pill Mill ist einfach toll und einfach in der Bedienung. Man packt einfach die gewünschte Tablette/n in den Mörser, steck die Kurbel drauf und dreht und untem im Auffangbecher kommt die zerkleinerte Tablette/n raus. Man kann unten am Rädchen auch einstellen wie dolle die Tablette zerkleinert werden soll. Ich bin sehr begeister von dem Tablettenmörser, vorallem weil man einzelne oder mehrere Tabletten zerkleinern kann. Und das Reinigen geht auch ganz einfach.
