Be sure when handling to use gloves, mice can smell your scent. Also after each catch its best to whip it clean with water only. When i left it without cleaning they avoid it for some reason. I also smeared peanut butter at the entrance and on the floor and on the unit. Just enough to have the smell but not eat. What I also did was applied electrical tape across each side of the hole and left about 1/2 inch on the bottom because they love to go into tunnels and small places.
