Having tried several models with dowels of different thicknesses these seemed the best balance. The heavier types were dead on the ride cymbal even though they delivered more volume. These sound great on the hi-hats, ride and crash cymbals. Good range of sound from snare and toms. If you can't get the volume you need from wooden sticks without wasting too much energy to control them, these are a great option.

I love using these Lightning Rods as regular drumsticks, not just because they are supposedly quieter. I just like the feel of the grip and the weight and balance of the rods. Unfortunately, they are more expensive that regular sticks, and they chip away probably even faster. What I do is wrap them with duct tape, both below and above the existing red wrap. I know that nullifies the effect of the multiple rods, but I don't care because I'm not using them for quieter playing.

Ok yes these tend to splinter and break with use, especially if you are a heavy hitter, but that's just what sticks do. I use these during practice so I don't overpower my bandmates in our small space and I can't say enough about them. I typically play much like I would using my 5Bs, but I do hit a bit softer to prolong the life of the rods. They bounce pretty close to how a solid stick would, and don't require much more effort than youd normally use. I've also used HotRods, and prefer these by far. They break much less since the dowels are thicker, and I feel like I have more volume/tone control. Overall a great stick to use for times you need to play quieter but don't want to sacrafice feel and speed.

I have been using rods for a couple of years for rehearsals and gigs in small venues. At times drummers need to play soft and as an alternative to brushes (Which I really dislike using) these are very good. Response is improved but not like sticks.....rolls are not particularly good with these rods. They are still a useful product for drummers.

Love these. Great play. So fun. Especially if im trying to keep it down a little. Heavy hitters will destroy them, but I think they're worth a little TLC.

YEEEEESSSSSS!!!!. Just used these for the first time. Perfect feel and sound bridges lighter less durable rods/brushes with standard drumsticks. I always hated how the lighter thinner rods splinter off like dry spaghetti. Lightning rods are a designed better than other rods IMO because of the rounder tips. Also, because of the thicker diameter of the individual rods, I was able to get through four sets with little indication of splinter damage so often seen with other rods. However, I did switch to standard sticks more in the 3rd and 4th sets when the volume crept up to more bar/club levels. Plus because we played outdoors on an oceanfront restaurant bar (no drum mics) I didn't give these the full throttle experience yet, however, it appears that they would do the trick.

I’ve tried to save money buying fake versions and they all suk. I’m not in love with the price but if you want to play well just buy these. Nothing compares. Especially the crappy made in China copies. Those will hold you back your playing because they just don't respond right.

Die ProMark Drumsticks liegen sehr gut in der Hand und sind leichter als meine zuvor benutzten 5A Sticks. Vor allem ist die Lautstärke nun reduziert, welches vor allem meine Band sehr freut. Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit meinen neuen Sticks.

I have previous bought several pairs with the thinner dowels (Vic Firth Rute 606) but each time they have lasted only a month or so before falling to bits. Decided to go with a thicker dowel and different make and am really impressed. They are not as quiet as the thinner ones but not as loud as normal sticks. They feel nice to play with and are still as good as the day I bought them. I definitely recommend them.

These are exactly the sound I was looking for! Not too loud, not too soft. I love the feel of them too.
