Electrician's Review of a Generator Interlock Kit
As an electrician, one of the most critical installations I perform for homeowners is setting up a safe and effective way to connect a portable generator to their home's electrical panel. When a customer opts for a generator interlock kit, I prioritize a product that is not only robust but also provides foolproof safety. This review is based on my experience with a high-quality generator interlock kit. Safety and Compliance The primary purpose of a generator interlock kit is to prevent the simultaneous operation of the main utility breaker and the generator breaker. This is an absolute necessity to avoid backfeeding power onto the utility grid, which can cause severe injury or death to line workers. The kit I worked with delivered on this front flawlessly. The physical mechanism was simple yet highly effective, ensuring that one breaker is always in the "off" position before the other can be turned "on." This simple mechanical logic is a reliable safety feature that leaves no room for human error. Installation and Build Quality A good interlock kit should be designed for a straightforward installation, and this one was. The kit included all necessary hardware and a clear, detailed instruction manual, which is a huge plus. The metal parts were sturdy, with no sharp edges, and the mounting holes aligned perfectly with the panel's existing breakers. This attention to detail saves time and ensures a clean, professional-looking installation. The parts felt durable and well-machined, giving me confidence that the mechanism will continue to function correctly for years to come without binding or becoming loose. Overall Performance and Recommendation Once installed, the interlock kit performed exactly as expected. It provided a secure, safe, and code-compliant way for the homeowner to power their essential circuits during an outage. The transition from utility power to generator power was smooth and secure. For any homeowner considering a generator connection, a high-quality interlock kit is a far superior and safer option compared to a costly transfer switch. In my professional opinion, this generator interlock kit is a top-tier product. It’s well-designed for safety, built with durable materials, and makes the installation process efficient. I would highly recommend this kit to anyone looking for a reliable and safe solution for connecting a portable generator to their home.

Works great on Siemens panel
Fits and works exactly as it should. Comes with everything needed for an easy install and plenty of stickers to explain what it is to anyone in the future not familiar. Price point is very much worth the quality of material you receive.

Worked as advertised!
Fit the Siemens 200 amp panel at my house without any modification. Important to measure first. and insure you select the correct item for your particular installation. Mine was installed by the local electrician who wired the house (new construction). Works as it should, prevents the generator circuit feeding current to the local utility line. Appears to be well made. Instructions were clear, and every thing needed for install and labeling was included.

PERFECT INTERLOCK for SIEMENS and MURRAY 200 Amp Load Centers
This interlock kit is very well made and easy to install with virtually everything you need other than a drill motor and screwdrivers. The easy to use sliding plate design is exactly what I was considering fabricating myself and for $14.99 avoided that task. I installed them in both of my 200 Amp Siemens Load Centers in less than 30 minutes. The function is MUCH more secure and foolproof than breaker connected interlocks and allow for both MAIN and GEN breakers to be completely switched OFF before switching ON either source. With the breaker connected interlocks I used in the past the simultaneous trip of both source breakers has always been a concern; this design eliminates that issue completely. Great price at $14.99 compared to other products at $60 to $140.

Good quality.
This is a very good quality product that works great and installs easily. It would have given it 5 stars if the instructions were better. I have a lot of experience and it was simple to install...I am just thinking of people that do not have my experience and better instructions could make it better for those people. There were good pictures of what to do which always makes things easier. I would buy this product again.

Works perfectly!
This interlock kit fit great on my Siemens panel. The metal is thick and durable. I can now safely and legally power my house with a portable generator without risk of back feeding the grid. I like that this option lets me choose which circuits to energize when on generator based on changing needs, instead of being locked in to the limited number with a transfer switch. The instructions were easy to follow and the included bit drilled through the panel with no problems. I do recommend drilling a smaller pilot hole first. This will help keep the larger bit from wondering. I am comfortable doing home electrical work. If you are not, this might not be the best option to install on your own. You do have to take the front panel off of the box, potentially exposing yourself to live wires if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Works great, good value.
Was going to buy a more expensive version of this item but gambled on this one. Installed on a Siemens 200 amp panel. Easy install, works as it should, no issues.
