SmallRig Extended Vertical Arm for DJI RS 3 mini, Extension Mount Plate for DJI RS 3 Mini - 4196

I wanted this to use the S5II with the DJI RS3 mini stabilizer. It worked, I was able to stabilize the camera with cage and 20-60mm, but feels weird, like it is too much for the motors. I would recommend buying the RS3 instead of the mini version.

I am using a front heavy lens but still well within the weight limits of the RS3 Mini. Many influencers mention this extended arm to help with balancing loads like mine. In order to get a good balance, I have to have the vertical arm pushed towards the back of the horizontal arm which makes the bottom of the vertical arm hit the rotation arm....that might be hard to follow so...see picture.This would likely be fixed if I removed the rubber covering that part of the arm which is why I'm giving this a 4 star instead of 3.

My camera with a cage attached was too top-heavy to be balanced on the rs3 mini. This arm extends enough to lower gravity without hitting the motor.The only complaint is that I couldn't tighten the knob entirely by default, and it kept slipping. But it was a simple fix with a hex key.

The extended arm is very well made and fits just like the original.I found that the extended arm actually made the balancing easier for the gimbal, and didnt hinder it at all.I also swapped to the smallrig arcaswiss QR mount for the RS3 so I could use my Camera Cage, and not have to remove it constantly. So this arm allows the camera to sit lower and balance better also.Overall great aftermarket addition to the DJI RS3 Mini

Longer and can replace the original vertical arm immediately.This arm can lower the rs3 mini gravity by about 15mm so that you can mount heavier and bulker camera setup.Highly recommend it if you are running a tight space with your DJI RS3 mini.

Overall works great for a heavier setup with the RS3 mini but since downsizing my camera, lenses and attachments this just creates less room for the gimbal to rotate and sometimes hits the handle.

I recently added a cage to my camera and it made balancing more difficult because it made my camera more back heavy. The gimbal was still usable, but I couldn't get the balance perfect with my usual setup.This extended vertical arm solved the issue and the DJI balance tests states that all of the axes are 'excellent'. If anything, I wish the arm was slightly longer for even lighter lenses or even more back heavy setups.I wish DJI would have designed the RS3 Mini with the extended arm and the Smallrig quick release clamp (Smallrig 4195) from the get-go because it makes the gimbal much better and more convenient. I ordered the quick release clamp and it will make setup even faster.I would definitely recommend this extended vertical arm, especially if you're using a cage. It fixed my balance issue and now I can use my cage without worrying about it.UPDATE: I noticed that this arm is subject to slipping. It doesn't seem to slip when it's in use, but it slipped a bit when I was putting my camera on the gimbal one time. I tested it when locked and I can adjust it when it's locked. It doesn't happen with the original. This is a big issue...
