Magnat Signature 505 Floorstanding Speaker - Mocca

The mods and Hi,s are clear due to the Super Tweeter. The Bass is a little muddy.

A pair of these would make any room sound terrific, you might hear music you never heard before. They sound very clear and rich with or without a subwoofer, I don't think you really need a subwoofer with these, but it won't hurt, that's for sure. These give a very full sound, full sounding bass smooth mids and clear sounding highs and all at a good price. I think these are a very good sounding speaker and they get loud. I couldn't get much information on them from the internet, it was mostly in a different language, but it would have 4 or 5 stars, so I gave them a shot and I'm very glad I did. I saw this brand and I did not know what to make of them, so I researched for months and months trying to find out anything about them and their quality. After having purchased a used pair - I am still lost!The warehouse quality check was horrible! One speaker had the crossover (I assume) loose inside of it and taking a flashlight, I could easily see that the drivers were not connected, so I could never listen in stereo. The other one had dings, but played. I was having my doubts about the super tweeter working, as I had JBL's with them in the past, and they always burned out quickly.I have some Mordaunt-Short Avianos, and as I look for something within reason to replace these bnookshelfs and center, I honestly am having a hard time find something even a little better! The one speaker of these Magnat's that I did hear had sound that did not astonish at first. I tried different material and the only pluses really came from the speaker type mainly.They played louder at the same level as my others. Keep in mind I had the one hooked up to my system. Given the 3.5 way configuration, you get more information from these - although the bass was lacking. I set the receiver with these as full and at 45hz. They seemed to have sounded better at 45hz, probably due to it picking up the sub. However, I did look and the sub was on with each setting!The tweeters did not sound very fine like that JBL center channel that I had about ten years ago and I am not sure that it was working, but what I did hear had more extension or reach, than my bookshelfs did. That is, with one of mine hooked up and this on the other side. Once I put mine back, they still had their precision and strength.Truth be told, once opened up and having my receiver re-calibrate things - I think that I would have liked them! It was just hard for me to get a full experience since one speaker was not working, so it was harder to judge the full capabilities. Maybe I just like having a couple of more driver to bring out more sound.I learned my lesson in buying used speakers! My main fears came true! They need to check for functionality before letting this JUNK leave the warehouse. Maybe when the price is right, I may try buying new. I will admit, that I likely would have kept them had they worked...

Speakers was damaged. Loose parts in cabinet.Magnat is a fine Speaker, with good build quality , but this one is not a good example of magnat or Amazon. It's definitely an outlier.The Signature 505 I have is a wonderful, well made and attractive unit.My experience is the price is in line with the quality of these speakers.
