Some assembly required...
OK. I hate to admit it, but I turned what should have been maybe 1 1/2 hour install into 3 days. Part of was the heat but, as with any home project, there were just a bunch of problems. Needed a higher header board because otherwise, when pulled up, curtain would hang below screen doors. So, you know, find 1X4, find circular saw, screws etc. Then it would get hotter and, time for a break! Plus, no >70 year old should be on a ladder. Which is also to say very short bursts of energy followed by coffee. But, finally got them up. Good news: very good materials. Solid pulleys and attaching hardware. Instructions are semi-understandable. I was disappointed in that I would have liked the curtain to be a little more see-through (wider slats) but these are pretty opaque.Got these to shade back french doors off bedroom during day. For that, they work great. Wish I could have found what on our other decks. Plastic slats roll up that came fully assembled with cords strung. All you had to do was put in 2 or 3 hooks and hang them: done! Cheap pulleys and attachments though but with tweaking, they still work fine. Just can't find them anywhere, alas.Anyway, overall these are OK. If you're halfway competent and don't run into problems with placement, I'd guess 2 hours max. Probably less.

great product
we are very happy with this product. The only thing we would change is to have a string in the middle of the shade to help it raise and lower. We purchased the brown ones and they keep the sun from directly shining on us but yet lets light shine through. Very happy with this product

Measure your space that you will be hanging them in. We have a gap on each side.
They were easy to install. Kinda flimsy in the wind. Need more support brackets. The price was reasonable. Not sure if they will survive if left hanging out all year long. Do an excellent job of blocking the sun. Size could have been wider. Appearance is nice. Wind will make a difference in appearance.

block the heat
Put them up to block the southern heat. Wound up buying five for various locations on the house. Even we are senior DIYERS, the installation was relatively quick and easy with some minor adjustments. We had to secured them yesterday because of bad weather--with some high wind gusts. When we checked on them after the storm, we found that one of the bungees to secure the shade had somehow sprung and was broken and unusable any more. I just ordered some heavy bungees that may work. If not we can make adjustments to safeguard the shades.

Love These
We put these on our deck and we love them! They’ve been up for 6 months now and they still look great.

The badly designed brackets lose a star
I'm going to try to focus just on the installation, since I just got them up, and I don't know what the extended experience will be like. So...People complain that you have to assemble the rods and shades out of the box. I'm totally fine with that, because it means they use smaller boxes. I got the 7ft wide version, and that's just not doable if they're already assembled. It'll take you 5 minutes per shade, kneeling on your living room floor, to put in the tiny set screws, and shove the rods through the loops in the shades. Not a big deal. The rods then feel totally solid, and everything seems durable.UNFORTUNATELY, the brackets for hanging them have to be installed on a vertical surface. If that's what you have, you're going to have a pretty easy installation, especially if you have someone to help out. My issue is that I have an overhead area to mount them (front porch ceiling), and the brackets are in no way designed for that. That meant a trip to Lowe's for some lumber, brackets, hardware, in order to create my own vertical surface, and mount that to the ceiling. That was several hours, including painting. Just know ahead of time, that you may be in for the same treat. The rest of the installation was pretty straight forward, just good luck keeping your sanity if the cord gets all knotted up. Also, after you've tied the cord in a knot at the bracket, leave enough hanging out that you can loosen the 2 bracket screws, and tuck the cord inside. Then tighten the screws again, and it'll hold the end of the cord, keeping the knots from ever coming loose.

Works Great, love this shade.
The media could not be loaded. I love this shade. I live in Las Vegas and it's been hot. I have no shade in the middle of the afternoon in my apartment. This shade really keeps my balcony cool with the sun beating directly onto it. It also does a great job at blocking the heavy winds. It buckles down nicely to stay in place. It's helping me to also not have to close my curtains or use my AC unit which is an A+ with these electric bill prices. I got the dark brown mesh. Great fit as well, exactly as stated.
