Great tracks from a great band
This was the 'new and improved' Best of Stryper which was really a prelude to the reformation of the band - the two 'original' tracks on the album were in fact in the style of 'Reborn' that came out a couple of years later and the album is worth getting just for those. There are 18 tracks here compared to 12 on the original which translates to 16 previously released +2. There were 2 originals on the 1st 'Best Of' but only one of those 'Can't Stop the Rock' is worth getting (in my opinion!) Another significant difference between this and the 1991 'Best of', is that the 1991 version had some interesting narrative from the band on the 'stick' they got for 'Against the Law', their last album before the long break-up. I know from personal experience, a lot of christian Stryper fans thought the band had renounced their faith - personally, i have 'Against the Law' too and it is just a kick-ass metal album and i cannot understand the fuss - it is not profane and there are certainly some in your face lyrics that really make the point the band makes so well! You can pick-up the first 'Best Of' from resellers for 0.01p + P&P (I did!!) To specific tracks, for me 'Soldiers Under Command' is one of the best metal songs ever written and certainly the best Christian metal song. My first ever 'christian' metal experience was the song 'To Hell with the devil' which forever delivered me from trying to like 'Songs of Fellowship' cassettes (n.b. wikipedia can tell you what these were) after my conversion as a young metal-head...thank God for them!! In short, from these songs and the quality of the band, you can see why even Motley Crue wanted to play with Stryper on a 'Heaven and Hell' tour..., Bon Jovi supported them (hard to believe!!) Of course, the style is from 80s early 90s metal but it has worn well - i still live cranking these up - an essential part of any metal fan's education!

Great compilation
Great compilation. I really dig this band. Brilliant musicians. I would have put more from In God we trust, but that’s just personal preference. All for One is an excellent track from the Against the law album, it took a few listens but now it’s one of my faves. It took a while for the cd to arrive but it came shrink wrapped and in perfect condition so no biggie. Worth the wait. Don’t hesitate to buy, it’s cheap and an excellent cd

Believe!
A truly breathtaking compilation from one of the most underrated and overlooked heavy bands of the 80s. All For One, In God We Trust, To Hell With The Devil, Soldiers Under Command and Believe are passionate anthems of the highest order. Why, indeed, should the Devil have all the best music? STRYPER rock, and they rock for the Lord! Can't wait for the new album (Murder by Pride) which comes out later this year...

Jesus is my homeboy!!
The first time I heard Stryper, I was living and playing in Germany. Trying to earn a living as a metal vocalist. My drummer, Roland Schmidt, brought the Yellow and Black Attack EP round to my place, basically 'cos he loved the drumming. He said "Dude, they're good, but it's god metal!!"So, rather sceptically, I played the EP. Holy sheet!! It blew me away instantly. The amazing vocals, harmonies galore, awesome twin guitar attack, powerhouse double bass drumming, and a rythmn section that just battered down anything that got in its way. I became an instant Stryper fan. A few years went by, Stryper got more popular, but still no tour in Germany. So, I travelled back to the UK, to the Hammy Odeon, to see the gods of god metal in concert on the To Hell With The Devil tour, supported by Briar. They did not disappoint. A show to die for, so loud it made me deaf for 2 days, and a packed Odeon roaring them on. I've seen some mega shows at the Hammy in my time, but that took the biscuit.Sadly, I've only ever seen them the once, but their songs live with me all the time. This compilation is a must for any new fan curious about Stryper. Don't be put off by the Jesus tag, just start by listening to what fantastic twin guitar metal these guys can blast out. I'm not a christian, but this band really does have the rock that makes you roll!! I give it 5 stars plus. It's a must buy.......Forget Whitecross, Bloodgood, P.O.B, Barren Cross, Rez band etc....Strypers blend of metal and melody was definately made in heaven.

Mostly good
I was a fan as a teenager and was reliving my youth by buying this, and introducing my son to them at the same time. There were quite a few songs on there that I didn't know, but I have enjoyed listening to them and the ones I do know again. My son has enjoyed it too.

Best Stryper Compilation
At last Stryper release an 18 track compilation covering all the classics (plus two new songs). Includes songs from the infamous "Against the law" album when they finally had enough of the marketing men and decided to look how they wanted to look (i.e. black leathers like any other self respecting heavy rock band).A lot,lot better than the "Can't stop the rock" compilation which only had 12 tracks (and 4 of those were new tracks)!!A much more complete CD that brings back the good vibes........you can't beat the spine tingling opening riff of "To hell with the devil".Christian metal at its finest.

Brilliant CD
I brought this as I remembered listening to Stryper as a teenager and remembered how good I thought they were, but over the years I have lost the tapes I had. On listening to the songs again I still like them and the Christain message they hold. Brought back a few good memories. They seem to have timeless quality.
