It took only a minute of reading this book to find myself transported into the Amish world of Rebecca Graber. I was back in my childhood, smelling the wood smoke and experiencing the sights and sounds of living amongst the Amish community. As someone that is "English", my experiences are from a different perspective, but I would encourage anyone that would love to know what it is really like being a part of the Amish church and leaving to read this book. Rebecca is a talented writer that will ignite all your senses and you will not just read about it, you will experience what they experienced.A true tale of the sacrifices they made for their faith in God from a truly remarkable writer.

This was a very interesting read.
I felt like a visitor in their home and got to know the family as l read it. She explained a lot of the Amish family life. I too, was born Amish and totally related with what I read. My husband and l left in our mid-twenties for many of the same reasons the Grabers did.

Heartwarming
Heartwarming and beautifully written. It reads much like Laura Ingalls Wilder: a collection of short chapters weaving the author's memories together into the larger story. I loved the use of so many Biblical passages too. I've read several books by people who have chosen to leave the Amish, and this is one of the best. The author was positive and painted an overall happy picture. A very pleasant read.

Must read for the Christian
This was a lovely book that shows the sweetness of the Amish way but also shows the truth that their way of life is a choice to follow the rules of man but not the Bible. I was really surprised how litt!e the individual Amish truly read the Bible. Living close to many Amish communities I found this enlightening

A must read account from a pure heart.
I enjoyed reading this book. It took me just a few days to read. I feel like I stepped into a wonderful family's world and into the heart of a wife, mother, and an Amish soul who was called upon by Christ to live the Bible. My love and curiosity for the Amish has grown.

Misleading description
I was barely able to finish the book. Frankly, this book is all about the authors interpretation of the Bible VS Amish interpretation. The further you get, the more you’re reading bible passages. Since I don’t believe in that, the book was a waste of time.

Great read!
I read this in a single day. The love of God she lived is inspiring. Leaving a father you love is not easy, but following God is THE important thing in life.

Amish Changing Worlds
It was an interesting book about various Amish churches and their requirements. It showed how this family tried to stay true to their faith but the church had other concerns. In the end, the family letter the church for their faith and joined the English world.
